What's to investigate. Did no one at the FTC attend business school?

I wonder if this is hitting poorer areas disproportionately (I am sure it is, intentionally).

I live between two Krogers, two Walmarts and when shopping at any they generally have full shelves. Granted, if you do online pick-up you may not get the same item because of human error.

The stores have been doing the equivalent of gas stations gouging during a hurricane. It shouldn't have taken this long. Now the makers of the products are following the examples of the stores because no one did anything.

The Walmarts by us are pretty much bare shelves.  Every time we go they seem to be mostly out of everything.   If you go the local grocery chain right the street or to Target, right across the highway they seem to fully stocked.    I dont know how they could price gouge when they dont have anything in stock.  My guess is they have there own supply chain that is complely borked at this point.

I'd have to wonder about your local Wallyworld too.  My Walmarts seem fine?

But don't worry, the corporate overlords are reassuring Biden that things are great.  FTA:

"
The president spoke Monday with the CEOs of Best Buy, Food Lion, Samsung, Etsy and Walmart, among companies. The corporate leaders reassured Biden.
"While we're all concerned about the supply chain, we have more inventory than we did a year ago, and we have the inventory that we need to be able to support the business," Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said. "And we are seeing progress. The port and transit delays are improving.""

Heres whats going to happen

They are going to send shipping invoices from their distribution centers to the FTC. Then the FTC will go after the companies who are constantly cutting product. The companies will send them invoices for the things they are not getting. The FTC will go to them.

Eventually they will wind up at the docks. This is probably the first step into dropping a big hammer down on dock practices

Translation:

"Umm, we have no idea what is going on and are in no way qualified to be on this committee...so random big businesses, would you mind sending us EVERYTHING you have which we will subjectively judge if complete?...and when you can't comply with this impossible task we will be able to blame you for supply chain issues and take the spotlight off our ineptness,"
