No anger. No hate. Tell him he is dead to you and you will mourn him until you die or he recovers from being brain dead.

I'm guessing your brother was always a hateful idiot, even before COVID

"You're being way too easy on your brother and the rest of your family."

That's not wrong.

the question is not "is it okay to be mad at him?" the question is "how did he even have a chance to spew hate at you about the miscarriage?" -because you should have stopped talking to him completely by this point....

Yes.

The pandemic, like alcohol, seems to be very good at bringing out who people truly are inside.

Angry? You have every right to screw his face down into a concrete floor and let people walk on him as he flails his arms comically.

No. But the free 5G in your head will make you popular with gamers

Covid didn't make him crazy, it revealed it.

Don't take anything he says to heart, he's not right in the head. It's unlikely he'll get better, but it is possible. If he reaches out and has genuinely had an epiphany that made him better to those around him, give him another chance. Otherwise, stay away, as he will only drag you down.

People need to let go of this notion that simply because someone is related to you, they have some sort of right to be in their life.  They do not.  There is nothing wrong with excluding a relative from your life for being toxic.

Your brother has always thought he was smarter than everyone else.

Your brother needs that punishment the Council of Ricks was going to implement on Rick C-137.

I've been estranged from my family for over 20 years, and it's been a great 20 years without all of the controlling, idiotic, racist derp.  I'd suggest the fictional letter writer do the same.

He's a moron, and maybe you were lucky to miscarry. Your family genetics might have a few bad sequences.

I get you can't remove him from your life completely, because your parents are likely still alive. However tell him to STFU and stay the f**k away from you.

I think you no longer have a brother.

My wife managed to cut out the toxic part of her family because of myself. She knows that she can count on me to be there for her. Having that allowed her to escape her crazy Brother/SiL from poisoning her life. After a few years, she excised them from her life overall, other than family functions, and they know better than to engage in derptastic stupidity when I'm around because I will tear them a new one.

My wife (now ex-wife) was the main reason why I cut them out at the time.  It certainly helped that, just a couple months after we got married, they went on the attack against her, blaming her for all of the "changes" in me.  They weren't changes per se, it was just that I finally refused to put up with their bullsh*t anymore once I had someone in my life other than family.

My wife suddenly didn't need to kowtow to crazy bullshiat they foisted on the siblings. I was/am 100% PURE EBIL but they were / are terrified of me. Mostly because they can see in my eyes that I don't have an emotional response when protecting my wife from crazy. The SiL looked in my eyes and saw exactly how cold I am in that respect. After that, she toned it waayyy back and tends to avoid any crazy talk around me.

1) I'm Not Throwing Away My Shot: Tell your brother to FRO.  And his wife.  And anyone who entertains/indulges or otherwise doesn't tell him to properly FRO as he should.

2) Well, Tell Me What'd I Say?: While I'm onboard with the general sentiment that the disabled are not responsible for making others feel comfortable around them, I'm also understanding that prior to surgery I was visually impaired and needed glasses for, well, everything.  I'd annoy everyone around if I just chose not to wear them.  I'd wager the glasses are more comfortable than hearing aids, but if you're not taking simple steps to understand people, then you're an asshole.  The burden has been shifted from them to you which is a dick move. Tell them to FRO.

3) So What'cha, What'cha, What'cha Want?: The problem is you did what you were supposed to do, you made a specific list and they didn't follow it.  So at that point, STFU, GTHOI and return things.

4) Mama, Life Had Just Begun, But Now I've Gone And Thrown It All Away: STFU and GTHOI.

1a) My Shot II: I think we're in agreement here.  Send them this:

2a) What'd I Say II: Someone gets it.

2b) What'd I Say III: Someone else doesn't get it.  The original letter writer definitely is a jerk based on phrasing and unwillingness to repeat themselves.  But here's the issue.  The problem is the original LWs friends can't hear so well.  That is their problem.  When they don't use the available tools to correct the problem, they make it someone else's problem which is a dick move.  It'd be one thing if they could not take other corrective action, but they can and choose not to.  So yeah, everyone here appears to be an asshole of one degree or another.

5) Don't Say You Love Me (Classic): For some people words are not spoken casually or carelessly.  I wager this guy is one of those.  You can make this into a needless point of conflict if you wish and try to force things.  Or you can judge by his actions.  Are his actions those of someone who deeply cares?  Is that how he expresses his love?  That'll tell you more than words.

There are times where you have a complete idiot as a family member. I have one. My sister. She's a whackadoodle christian and trump supporter. There are also times you have to write the family member out of your life. Case in point...

The day after my mom's funeral. I was naturally a mess. My sister says to another family member, "She's (my mother) going to hell because she didn't get saved by christ". That was the last straw. I informed her that she should thank her imaginary god that she's not a man. If she had been, she would have been picking up her teeth off the ground. That was 13 years ago. I have not spoken a word to that piece of shiat since then, and will never.

When your spouse or significant other makes the decision to distance themselves from idiot relatives or disown them altogether, the hard part is to NOT talk about it and pile on about how stupid they are.
It causes tension and it's a hard enough decision for them to make already.
Not that I know about that or anything...

I'd ask "Who the hell says something like that at a FUNERAL??" but that's just how obsession works. The topic of the obsession is very close to the surface. It's why every conversation with a Trump supporter eventually turns to Trump, even if the non-supporters have all agreed not to bring it up and set him off. You can't help but talk about the most important thing in your life. And sometimes the most important thing is being awful.

Sorry that happened to you. Hope you're living your best life now.

My MiL is like that, only she HATES TFG. However, EVERYTHING reminds her of something TFG did while in office, so she'll use that as a launching point for a diatribe. "Do you remember when Trump (insert awful thing he did)?" I hate that MF'er too, but he doesn't live in my head 24/7. I cringed when Rittenhouse visited ex-prez biatchtits because I *knew* that's all she'd want to talk about at Thanksgiving.

I have hated her my entire life, but was being "a good kid" by not doing or saying anything while my folks were still alive. Now, I wouldn't piss on the biatch if she was on fire. And be happy to let anyone in the family know that. But no one gives a rats ass about her either.

I'm so farking glad I have to go out to the "second cousin I haven't spoken to in 20 years" range to find rabid nutters.  Yeah, there's a few Trump voters a bit closer in, but they're the country-club "I don't like him, but I'll vote for lower taxes" types.  At the parents/inlaws/siblings level... zero crazies.

No offense, but they are still horrible people. They tolerate fascism and racism just to have lower taxes.
