Nonsense, nothing new was invented in music since I was young

Im all in on synthwave the last six or seven years, surprised its not on the list.  Until I discovered it, my main music listening was all thrash metal, metalcore, and punk; it really gave me something new and different that I just dug.

Vaporwave has its time and place too, but maybe I dig it because I like weird noise like V/VM made, and because its not really artists so much as manipulated audio, its not really artists as much as a style.  not all the time, but occasionally when the mood hits, it hits right.

In related news, Barnes and Barnes came out with a new album recently. Not sure which microgenre to file this under.

Back in my day we only had six music genres, and you could tell what kind of music someone listened to by the clothes they wore, and that was just fine with us.

I had no clue about the top songs of 2021, but I knew almost all of this list.

I have never heard of Burial being referred to as "Night Bus."  His stuff became known as future garage after Skrillex, Excision, and Datsik collectively ruined dubstap for everyone.  This is not the only error in this article.  There are many.

THIS LIST IS DEAD TO ME

Honestly, there are probably over 25 microgenres that have stuck around longer than these and been more influential, glitchhop and glitch being a couple of examples (and, yes, my user name comes from glitch music.)

I agree with you on this.

However as a listener of a lot of heavy metal I haven't a single leg to stand on to support you with it.

You think Pitchfork is bad?  I know metal fans that will argue this shiat like it's a religion...
