I used to work for Boeing, and to say that the company has become a joke Woolf be an understatement.  Also, I can't even imagine how bad morale is right now.

Side Notes:

1) We had to sign an ethics pledge every year.  Yeesh.

2) During an all employee webcast with Calhoun in 2020, they mentioned a website where employees could contribute to the fund for the families who lost loved ones because of the 737 Max  crashes.  Are you farking kidding me?  People are about to get laid off, and you want them to contribute to the pay-out?  Talk about tone-deaf.

Yep.  Amounts to the same old song though.  Take established company over, ride reputation to mine every possible dollar of it to destruction, then abandon ship and point the finger at everyone and everything that's not you

Agreed, though I did have one critique. Carnivore Capitalist is inaccurate. I believe the correct term is Vulture Capitalist.

In other words, Calhoun was suggesting a cultural problem rather than a technical one. He implied that pilot proficiency was variable and, by inference, that Indonesian and Ethiopian flight crews were from parts of the world where training was "different." Apart from gratuitously insulting the dead pilots (whose proficiency was never questioned) he was again shifting responsibility away from Boeing to regional regulatory systems-all of whom have to meet a global standard set by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

There were a lot of people carrying water on this one.  I read it here a hundred times.

I worked at a small company that was all ex GE people, worked at GE, and have known several other GE employees outside of work. Jack Welch was universally despised. No scientist or engineer could stand him. Longer stories, but you can find all the relevant info you need elsewhere.

Welch pushed ISO 9000 as the end-all, be-all for the marketing people to preach that they made quality products. ISO 9000 is a standard for consistency, not quality.
Yes, I am still bitter about my dishwashers that I had to replace the inlet valves on 6 months after the warranty was up.

There's nothing inherently more respectable about a Fortune 500 company like Boeing than there is about a driveway sealant company or an ambulance-chasing graduate of a fourth-tier law school.

Prove your worth, if you can.

None of those who disliked him mattered, and if he were still there, would probably get forced ranked ("ranked and yanked") right out of the company.

What mattered to Welch--and all who worshipped, idolized, aimed to be mentored by him--were the number of times, always FWIW, he was publicly fellated while bloviating on CNBC or some financial bullshiat network.
