What's new?

Well, it depends on what you buy.  Last year, someone asked for a farking globe and I went almost all out.

/this year, not so much.

I am going to remember Christmas 2020 for a long, long time. The vaccine wasn't out and infection rates were going up, so I spent it with my two cats. My family and I just shipped presents to each other's residences and opened the gifts over zoom. Then I watched four movies in a row and fell asleep.

This year, I don't have an excuse not to drive home, I had to do all my shopping last week to make sure I could still find stuff, and I'm leaving the cats in the care of my neighbor for six days. My mother also frowns upon watching four movies in a row and falling asleep, but my dad is on board, so I think I can swing that one small bit of happiness. Since I haven't been home in such a long time, every single minute of my time there has already been booked. I feel like I'm starting a new job.

We had no idea how good the 2020 Christmas was.

That's about what I've been seeing inflation in general at. I bet my cost of living increase will stay at 2% because the ceo needs another yacht.

I'm not paying a cent more than $7.25 an hour for them lords. All they're doing is a-leaping!

I feel like leaping commoners would be just fine if you needed to cut costs.

Sounds unspeakably generous.  I'm just hoping our cocoa sampler box is 5.7% larger.

/ 1.057 * 0 = 0

But - there IS no inflation.

Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer and Schiff have told us so. And they would never lie.

Right?

Isn't that literally true every year? It wouldn't make much sense that Christmas would get cheaper year after year.

If you won't accept that, then the CEO will simply import some immigrants who would love 2% increases. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/15/dominos-ceo-us-needs-more-immigration-to-address-worker-shortages.html

And I am not sure anything can be done to stop them.

Yeah it was pretty good.

Christmas 2019 I spent in a car crossing the desert on a cross-continent drive, alone with nothing but my thoughts, a bunch of audiobooks and an interesting navigational challenge. That was way better.
