There's an episode of the Youtube channel Funhaus where two of GWAR are special guests.

They come across as not only incredibly smart and witty, but also very pleasant. Not quite what you'd expect.

GWARs lead singer has a PhD in music.  That and Dexter Hollands PhD in micro biology are my two all time favorite music factoids.

In fairness, GWAR understands how hard it can be to face the world when missing a prosthesis.

Good thing they found it.
That guy could have put a lean on the venue.

They should team up with Brian May, PhD (Astrophysics).  Be one hell of an album.

And it's a REAL PhD, not one of those honorary ones. Good to hear. I hate those farking honorary titles, except in rare cases. Nice to see another rock star who is an actual smart person, not just pretending to be. Then you have Brian May the astrophysicist, and I believe I just heard that the lead singer for The Offsrping has some serious schooling in his pocket, too.

That would be Holland, who published a paper titled "Discovery of mature microRNA sequences within the protein-coding regions of global HIV-1 genomes: predictions of novel mechanisms for viral infection and pathogenicity"

Michael Bishop (Blothar) is also a teacher.

There we go... AN now I remember why it came up in the first place. :-) Some armchair epidemiologist was spouting some kind of bullshiat, and someone pointed this one out. Thanks for clarifying that, I couldn't remember his name. Funny how it's exactly who the OP mentioned.

Milo Aukerman from the Descendents also has a PhD. As does Greg Gaffin of Bad Religion....

Saw GWAR 3 weeks ago for the first time. Even though Brockie is gone, they're still incredible. Completely covered with alien blood and semen by the end.

Let's not forget Brian May and Bruce Dickinson.

Dan Grimaldi, the actor who played the Parisi brothers in the Sopranos, is a professor at NYU, teaching computer science.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my brother was at this show. Said he loved it. How could you not? It's GWAR

They were in DC for a show a couple years ago and some pop-up bar made a GWAR-themed weekend so they decided to crash the party. They were cool as hell. I don't know if you could call GWAR a class act, but they sure seemed like it. It was a great night.
