Yes, this is why a limited antibody response has been found in unvaccinated people shortly after being infected with the virus for the first time. This is absolutely not something that anyone should run away with towards the usual irrational and unscientific conclusions. Get your vaccine.

Yes, because I'm vaccinated. Full stop. End of story. Get vaccinated.

If that was the case then every day care worker, kindergarten teacher and pediatrician would be immune. Ordinary coronaviruses are a common cause of kiddy crud.

I have seen plenty of dead kindergarten teaches and daycare workers amongst the Herman Caine award recipients. It must not work that well.

Literally the concept behind the small pox vaccine.  Cow Pox gave a moderate immunity to it - thus the stabbies we get now.

Here's a hypothetical.  Let's say you are going to be shot in the chest.

Would you rather the old viet nam style flak jackets that offer Some protection, or the current top of the line ceramic level 4 armor plating that is certified to stop multiple rounds?

Not an exact comparison, but...

Wait. Are you saying Dr. Joe Rogan lied to me?!?!

I thought we'd known this for a while. I swear I read something toward the beginning of last year about kids in rural areas of China being relatively immune to COVID because their common cold viruses were often in that coronavirus group... wasn't that a thing?

Gee, thanks for telling me how immune systems work, study.

I don't know why everyone here is so down on this. This is great new! We could totally make an alternative to vaccines this way.

Heck, maybe even go a step further - instead of using a similar virus to Covid, why not just use some important part of Covid that's completely harmless. I don't know, a protein or something that maybe they use to get into your cells? And we can have your body develop an immune response to THAT. That way, when Covid comes in, the body recognizes the protein and YOUR OWN BODY will fight it off instead of one of those useless, harmful vaccines.

Heck, I seem to remember from my high school science classes that there's even a way to get your body to make that protein itself. I think it's called messenger RNA. We just mix some of that up with some harmless stuff - water to make it injectible, some sugars and fats to stabilize it and maybe salts as preservatives.

We give people this instead of those stupid vaccines and bam! We stop Covid. That would absolutely stick it to the Libs.

Boosted Friday, so yes.

Why are they even bothering to research this? We have a vaccine that works incredibly well. Use that. All this sounds like people trying to come up with reasons to not take the vaccine.

That would make sense if the vaccine was hideously expensive, rare, or had a high percentage of causing severe side effects. None of which are true.

I know a guy who won't get the shot because he's developed antibodies form having COVID that will protect him. He's had it twice so far.

Get your shots.
