He'll be dead in 3 years.

Political campaigning never ends.  This guy has constituents to impress.

He then accused Coleman of pushing him backward, hitting him in the chest, and spitting on him.
The document shows that the men's grandfather witnessed the fight. He also told officers that Coleman threatened to harm him, and that Coleman kicked over a box fan and flipped a chair.

You can tell because the author goes to great pains not to mention party affiliation in the article. If this was a Republican it would be in the headline.

Holy crap is this guy a piece of work. I don't know if his earlier domestic violence arrest was on Fark, but I didn't see it.

The domestic charge was from him fighting with his brother because his brother wanted to get baptized. That's odd, sure, but not something worth fighting over.

I guess he's always been a terrible person: During the 2020 campaign cycle, reports emerged that as a middle school student he had threatened to circulate a girl's nude photographs unless she sent him more pictures... Nude pics in middle school? I guess kids nowadays are growing up fast.

Does anyone from Kansas know why he was elected? Was he running against a convicted pedophile that strangled puppies regularly?

I think I heard he ran unopposed.  Though whether or not that was in the primary, the general, or both, I'm not sure.

This guy is a walking version of Madison Cawthorn.  Why don't they remove him?  Laura Kelly suggested that there was a process to do so, so why haven't they done it?

Because Republicans hold the majority and gain political points by pointing to his illegal and immature behavior as indicative of the party's values. A majority vote is required for expulsion. Democrats have been asking for an expulsion vote for over a year.
Kansas Democrats petition house majority leader to expel or censure.

What I don't understand is why they haven't at least kicked him from the party and force him to stand as an Independent.

ftfa: "The affidavit also shows that officers believed Coleman's behavior was "extremely erratic" and fluctuated easily. He then told officers that he hadn't slept in 72 hours."

alchohol and meth can both easily destroy you separately. combine them, and the amount of misery and trouble will be vastly amplified on the downward spiral. this guy has already been accused of revenge porn, stalking, domestic violence, and a dui is  just the beginning.  combine that with a smug, 'i am an elected official so i have certain privileges' attitude and he will be a fark pol topic for years to come.

This right here. If the Republicans won't allow his removal, then cut this little asshole off from the rest of the party and let him survive on his own, rather than speed-run through another white trash crime wave while waving Democratic colors.

The Democrats refused to give him any committee assignments. They tried, and failed, to convince Republicans that he shouldn't be permitted to join the legislature/should be expelled from the chamber. The only remaining thing the Democrats could do is hold a state committee vote to not recognize him as a Democrat like the Wyoming GQP did with Liz Cheney. That wouldn't stop him from registering as a Democratic voter or running as a Democrat in a re-election campaign.

Aaron Coleman ran against a seven-term incumbent in the primary and won the primary by 14 votes. At the time of the primary, he was almost exclusively known for being a young politician with a platform inspired by Bernie Sanders. News about these accusations didn't reach the KC Star or any other local papers/media outlets until after the primary election was over. By that time, the only person who could withdraw Aaron Coleman from the general election was Aaron Coleman himself. The KDP did everything they could to defeat him, including supporting the incumbent's write-in campaign in the general election. Not everybody can pull a Lisa Murkowski.

Worth noting also that progressive luminaries insisted we couldn't hold his remote long-ago actions against him and must offer a chance at redemption, and then went back to salivating over claims that Biden did or didn't do something decades ago.

(except Virgil Texas, who it turns out has an age limit on what he'll salivate over)
