In case anyone is wondering, if you freeze a giant turd and put it on a jeweler's lathe, you won't succeed in turning shiat into gold, you'll just splatter shiat all over the shop.

My family paid a genealogist to track our French roots. The furthest back they could find was a Jean-Marie LeBoulc'h who lived in the 1200s as a "fermier" (farmer)

One of his descendants founded a farming implement company that's still in business...

I wonder how many were just layabouts or ruffians. I don't suppose those jobs paid much, though.

Poacher was probably the most common, but it won't appear in tax records.

So, a poopsmith used a poop knife?

And a dunghammer?

Turdcutters too, maybe?

/crapscrews and stool engines weren't invented until the 17th century

My educational sources say that armourers and weapon smith's were the most common occupation. On every corner there were usually several competing workshops

You needed that many to supply arms to wondering adventurers who did a great job keeping the hoards of orca, goblins, and trolls at bay.

However it should be noted that historical sources indicate their work was generally garbage to be dumped the minute a trepid adventure got better equipment off a dead bad guy.

My historical research has revealed that one of the most common occupations was chest-maker. People built lots and lots of wooden chests back in the day. Also, high-capacity backpacks.

Ah, yes, forgot about that. Not to mention coopers.

Considering they're one of the more anal (hah) places even in California about vax requirements, they'll likely be hiring less than most.  Plenty, but less than most
