What I find most shocking about this is that we have seen this stupid misinformation campaign spread for ALL this time.  Even today, it's easy to find people on major networks, telling people that the vaccine is useless.

This is not about the 1st amendment.  Such information is absolutely dangerous and harmful.  So why the FARK are we still allowing it?

And don't tell me it's impossible to shut it down.

In a shocking turn of events, Covid positivity rates align with political maps, which, in turn, align with vaccination rates

...which align with climbing death rates, which, again, align with voters of one specific party.

So we were planning a trip to Spain next year but are likely to put it off.   Instead we're going to consider going somewhere in the USA, but only to states where the Governor isn't an ass hat and infection rates are low.   Aside from the obvious lower risk in some states, we refuse to reward problem states with our tourist dollars.

That is the miracle of the conspiratorial mindset.  Everything is proof, there is no such thing as coincidence or unrelated events.

2021-11-29 7:41:55 AM
By itself, a high test positive rate just means inadequate testing is going on.

Ex. in an area 90% vaccination rate, only one guy gets tested - in an ER - and it's positive... 100% test positive rate.  This doesn't mean that area has a massive COVID outbreak going on.  But it does mean more testing should be done, as there are likely more people with COVID out there, and you want to catch them before they show up in the ER.

So it's not that low vaccination rates result in high positive test rates.  Instead, what happens is this:

1) Republican areas have lots of people in COVID denial
2) The denial results in both low vaccination rates and low testing rates
3) The low vaccination & testing rates result in high #s of cases, admissions, and deaths

Really devious of the Democrats to politicize this pandemic by promoting safety measures and vaccination.

You need to look up the definition of gerrymandering. If the majority of people living in an area are Democrats, the small percentage that are left are not gerrymandered - they're just irrelevant.

COVID-19 also requires cholesterol in order to enter cells and replicate. If you had good medial data, you could almost pinpoint the spots that needed a refrigeration truck sent there (assuming no vaccinations).

I can find high-mortality-rate per capita states just from self-reported data of questionable quality.

Except that a lot more people get tested outside of ERs constantly for travel, sports, work, etc which means areas with high vac rates are doing more than testing the obviously ill so...no.

and even if high rates were because of inadequate testing...there is still a direct parallel between high postive per 100k and low vac rates per 100k.  numbers are numbers.

admittedly there are probably a lot of asymptomatic cases walking around but thats potentially a wash in both areas (the vacced are likely to be asymptomatic because they are vacced; the unvacced are either asymptomatic or less likely to seek testing if symptoms until serious...)

Yeah like 75% of the people who end up in the hospital are overweight or obese. 75% of the general population is overweight or obese. Everybody has cholesterol in their bodies or they would be dead.

A meta-analysis says low cholesterol is correlated with more sever disease outcomes along with high triglycerides. So, as per usual, it's more complicated.

My cousins just texted my mom about how both she and her husband had covid.  My mom asked if they were vaccinated.  Nope.  Some coworkers were vaccinated and still got covid, so she doesn't believe in the vaccine.

I hope both her and her husband end up on a ventilator prior to their passing.  it's nothing short of what they deserve for that kind of willful ignorance.

Deaths were pretty low in September 1945 in Hiroshima, too.
Don't look at August at all.  But September they were way low.

Florida was a massive hotspot for two months when delta arrived.  25k cases a day in August. 350 deaths a day.  They killed 20,000 people in two months.  It was massively worse than their second wave last winter.  And those are massive undercounts because the state has been caught many times suppressing their covid data.  The reason it's low now is that you farking burned through a large percentage of the population that is not vaccinated and in positions of exposure.

Would you like me to drive down the road and take photos of the TFG 2024 signs and F*ck Joe Biden flags?

<50% in my town voted R in the last local election. The numbers are shifting a little toward D as some of the younger folks hit 18, they will soon find themselves fleeing to greener pastures if they can ever afford to leave the nest.

Small town CT is just like small town anywhere: low to middle income White folks afraid that Biden will let immigrants and Black folks take their money and property.

I once heard one of our selectmen tell a 'funny' story about how he was napping in his recliner. He had his loaded revolver next to him on the side table. He heard (and this is a direct quote) 'one of them damned illegal Mexicans trying to rob me while I slept.' He woke up clocked the hammer, and aimed. Turned out it was his son dropping off something his Mom let him borrow. Almost shooting your son with a .44, hysterical, right?
