Kinzinger is out anyway, who cares what he says.

feckingmorons: Kinzinger is out anyway, who cares what he says.

Then why would he speak anonymously? He wouldn't, and hasn't.

Is this yet another 'former, retiring, outgoing' Republican taking a brave stand now that it won't cost them anything personally?

"McCarthy could have a bigger math problem with the moderates."

And that's what's important.  Not that this is crazy, demaging, democracy-threatening shiat, but there's a math problem with the moderates and he better pander to that section more if he wants to continue dismantling democracy.

What they need to do is quit the party. It's been taken over by extremists and they aren't gonna give it back.

Another thought: all that crazy shiat going on with the MAGA/Kraken circus is coming for the GOP as well. They are intertwined. GTFO while you can.

Profiles in Courage

Just like the anonymous sources in the Trump administration or the Democrats talking to reporters on background about internal squabbles.

He better be careful or Manchin and Sinema will no longer support his agenda.

Always important to remember with McCarthy is that this is what he came in on....and he's the last one left.

The GOP has a plan, trust me.

Step 1: GOP takes the house in the midterms with a significant margin even though they get less than 48% of the vote because of the gerrymandering.

Step 2: Kick McCarthy to the curb and elect Donald Trump as speaker of the House just before the 2024 elections.

Step 3: Refuse the validate results that show that Trump lost, making the Speaker of the House President.

If you don't think that they would do this take a look at all the purges that's been going on in the GOP at the state level.

Probably shouldn't have published it.  This is the sort of non-policy, conflict reporting that gets clicks from people who follow politics like sports but tells us nothing useful.  Why print a story for this person who won't even go on the record?

The real brilliance of that last stanza is the way it opens with the Lord's Prayer, and closes with the refrain of "this is the way the world ends" repeated twice more, then admits it won't end (life is long, after all) but it does acknowledge the suffering will continue as a result.

Once is certainty. Twice is emphasis. Thrice is a nervous prophecy.

As someone else already said "Conscience does make cowards of us all."

/To be clear, I am encouraging career suicide, not literal suicide.

Whatever it takes for them to grab back the power. And, once they get it, they will never relinquish it again.

I hope whatever it is that pushed Qevin from 'I think Putin pays 45**' to his current guanopsychosis comes to light while I'm still alive to laugh/recoil in horror at it. I'm curious whether it's just one giant skeleton in a regular sized closet, or a thousand skeletons in a giant closet.

I dunno, but it doesn't seem like that would get you into a 'worth leading cavorting with the loonies as they dance gleefully toward Civil War2 as a distraction' amount of trouble. Even the old 'live boy/dead girl' trope feels like it would fall short here.

The real danger is a Constitutional Convention. They can do it with just three more State legislative chambers since the recent elections left three more states with split-control legislatures. The new Godly Covenant of Gilead and Galt's Gulch (or whatever they decide to call it) can simply not include any prohibitions against Ex Post Facto meaning that crimes committed before it defined them could still be prosecuted and convicted, and redefine "Treason" as ever having held office as a Democrat, with capital offense if at State level or higher.
