Aren't millennials like 40 now? Us Gen Xers never had an identity other than being slackers.

Also, the greatest writer of the show has passed. Hunter S Thompson helped create the show:

The first script was written by neighbors Don Johnson and Hunter S. Thompson as a TV movie about a drug-addicted cop, Nash, who dated a known mobster's daughter, and his Latino partner. Thompson appears as a piano player in the pilot.

Now that the magic is gone, you can't go back home.

Nash Bridges was the show that was perpetually on when we were too stoned to find the remote.

So, we might have watched a decent amount of it....

But you can pump out and filter the sceptic for any nuggets you can find.

I've been watching "Miami Vice" recently.

That series needs a reboot. It was so awesome.

I wonder if will be as bad as that new "shaft" movie that came out a couple of years ago

I watched part of it. It was pretty bad.

On the plus side, my standard for Don Johnson is the first 2 seasons of Miami Vice, which are the best 2 seasons of TV ever made.  Do he'll never tip that.

Millennials are in their mid-20s to late-30s. Basically, if you became a young adult or came of age with George W. Bush's administration, or if you're young enough to remember life without an omnipresent internet, you're a Millennial.

Baby Boomers: 1946-1959
Generation Jones (Boomer to Gen X transition): 1960-1964
Gen X: 1965-1976
Oregon Trail Generation (Gen X to Millennial transition): 1977-1981
Millennials: 1982-1994
Millennial to Gen Z transition: 1995-1999
Gen Z: 2000-???? (either 2012 or 2013 at the latest)

So in other words, all this generation labeling is media bullshiat. It's the Boomers and the rest of us.

There was a Magnum PI reboot?

Let me guess: either Magnum or Higgins or both were women. And there were no epic mustaches to be found.

Gen X got the identity that corporate media assigned to us. Most of what Gen X is most famous for now is being overlooked for higher management positions because the Boomers wanted to double dip and stay working so they buy their second boat.

Now the millennials are in prime position for the senior roles that we never had a shot at.

I loved this show back in the day.  My mom got me into it.

Parents went to the Bay Area when the show was in production, and they were in some area of SF and my mom saw the two detective actors, who were under Nash and Cheech, on the show.  my mom knew it was them, and goes up, "are you Detectives Smith and Jones from 'Nash Bridges'?"  the shlumpy White guy laughs and says yes.  "We're shooting on location, but, they don't need us for another 4-5 hours, so we're just getting some coffee."

it made her life.  when they got home, i asked my mom, "how was San Fran?"

"WE RAN INTO THE NASH BRIDGES GUYS!!!!"

I think I caught the first two, maybe, three seasons. At the time I thought it had a pretty chill vibe, Johnson and Marin worked well together, while the tooling around an iconic city in a convertible was a fully intended to tap on Miami Vice nostalgia. Don't know how it held up after those seasons or if it holds up now on rewatch.

The only decent reboot CBS has done recenty was Hawaii 5-0. And even that was...eh, okay.

The Brady reboot where they had no concept of modern culture had that and it was the only thing going for it.

My dad did, but in his defense he had dementia and for some reason the cosmically bad programming on CBS really seemed to be his safety blanket (well, that and reruns of Friends on Nickelodeon - still don't get that).

From what I saw it was largely harmless, and Higgins was s-s-s-smokin'.

It was definitely better than most of the murder-rape-murder shows that CBS seems to specialize in.
