Ditched Spotify years ago and switched to Tidal because it gives a bigger share to artists. Turns out it works directly with a number of car makes.

It was a bad feature. It was bad at detecting when I was in my car and kept dropping me in the limited use mode even when I wasn't. I'm glad it's gone.

Fark Spotify.

I've used spotify for 6 years now... I've never once heard of this.

Is it a premium-only feature?

They need to bring back the "You've got great taste" survey thing.  That always built playlists way better than the premades.

Can they drop the part where if the Internet goes out I can't listen to the podcasts that I have already downloaded? I'm sure it's to syphon up more data and shoved more and more commercials to make up for overpaying Joe Rogan and having to hire more crisis managers for every episode of his, but I don't need crappy service from Spotify on top of crappy service from my ISP.

UK law will soon be amended to make using any hand held device while in control of the car illegal. The would apply to Spotify unless the phone is mounted in a holder. Probably

Is this that little thing that pops up that says "in your car" that I always have to click the X on?  Because yes.  I'm in my car.  Why the hell should that matter to spotify.  It's none of their business.

OK, so, I've never used Spotify (been with Apple Music since ditching Slacker Radio years ago), so bear with me.  I usually don't have the Apple music app up on the screen - it's easier to just yell out what I want Siri to play, navigate through the car stereo to play those albums or playlists I've added to my library, and skip tracks with my left thumb.

What exactly was the point of this feature?  Does Spotify not integrate with the controls in the car like other apps (i.e. showing the current artist/album/song on the vehicle screen, allowing steering wheel or head-unit control of playback)?  Or is this for people who still drive older cars and have to use a patch cable to the headphone jack?

dumbobruni: Fark Spotify.

fark them in the ear.

When I canceled my account a few months back, my singular comment was "Fark Joe Rogan".

If your connection goes out, disable wifi and mobile data on your device. Spotify will stop trying to connect to home base. I mainly use this on airplanes.

More and more I have been Twitch to find DJs that play music i like.  Then stream just the audio, some even put up their play lists on soundcloud.

all the music streaming services I have found play a few songs i like, then "Discovers" utter crap i do not care for, or has such a limited selection you end up hearing the same song after a few hours.

Read the article and from what I can understand. Car View is some mode for the app on the phone itself. I have Android Auto in my Mazda 3 and Spotify will appear as a sub screen or main screen with Google maps. Super handy to see song title and album, and I can control it with my steering wheel controls. I hope that feature is staying. Auto was glitchy with my old Note 4, but works perfectly with my Note 20 Ultra.

I will try this. Mostly the issues is because the home internet it out, but the phone is connected to the WiFi router and and won't connect to phone data.

Urgh, I sometimes want to strangle the Spotify developers as they for some reason are unable to do the simplest things that other content steamers do in their sleep;

- Sync Spotify on PC and mobile! Netflix et al do this! I actually have to memorize where I left off 😡
- Yeah! I know Spotify is offline! Yes, I know LTE is disabled for Spotify.  I've already downloaded this supernatural podcast! Just effin' play it!
- Stop randomly skipping to the next podcast half way through the current Podcast!!!
- And my pet peev: my wife and I have a family account....why the eff can't we have switchable profiles on the one account? Nope, I have to sign all the way out and she has to sign all the way in! So stupid!

Also, stop with the stupid constant updates that I did not approve.

For owning a somewhat modern vehicle?

I'm not the guy who said you sounded rich.  I don't even think that makes you rich, but the logic is easily explained.

Everyone who owns a more modern vehicle than me with more modern features is rich.  I mean unless I drive some really nice old school car that I wouldn't trade for yours.

And everyone who owns a crappier car than me is poor.

It's like George Carlin said about slower drivers and faster drivers.  They're either idiots or maniacs.

The people who don't own cars at all are either really poor or really smart (possibly even both). Get a job within walking distance of home or vice versa that's also close to most of your usual shopping needs and maybe get a bicycle or get a ride when needed.

My auto insurance is due next week.  I'm sure I'm dumb enough and well off enough to just renew it and pay the bill. Also, I don't want to walk everywhere.

I got one of those Alexa for the car things, which were apparently a failed experiment by Amazon that they were getting rid of because I only paid 15 bucks for it. It is quite terrible and looks ridiculous mounted on my dash. It will play Spotify sometimes, but only the first 5 seconds of a song. Then it just stops. Sometimes it will work decently. Once it started playing music in my kitchen while I was 5 miles away in my car.  But it's better than fooling with my phone while driving and I can turn on my home air conditioner from my car on the way home, which is nice.
