I'm not surprised about Encanto.  I think this is the first feel good kids movie since 2020.

Sat through Gucci yesterday. Beautiful film, picture perfect characters, the cars are period correct and beautiful, well made and all, but BORING and unrelatable.
Every moment clearly states "you are not one of the demigod rich".
Film clearly created by the wealthy turns out for the wealthy.

I find it mildly amusing that the Resident Evil franchise has turned into a rotting undead abomination that refuses to just die already.

I've already seen and read about those awful, just absolutely horrible people. Having an all A-list (except for Leto who is garbage-list) strutting around and hamming it up is not something I want to see either. From the trailer you can just feel the "look at us AAACTIIIING!" smugness.

Lot of that going on in the US too

Acting is not always entertaining. Gaga is the definition of an entertainer, acting comes to her like breathing.

But the main character (gaga) came from working/middle class.

She got sucked up in to all the bullshiat eventually and lost her common sense.

With some help by alcohol etc

And I'll provide the opposing view that it's the Ghostbusters version of The Force Awakens. Yet another remake posing as a torch-passing sequel, and unnecessary since the original already exists.

That makes three GB followups that just repeat the beats of the first. Maybe the next one will have a wholly fresh story.

No it isn't. Despite what his supporters keep insisting, Johnson didn't do anything original either. He just provided a shiat smoothie that blended Empire Strikes Back with the undertones of Anakin and Palpatine's "Maybe the Jedi suck" conversations in Revenge of the Sith. Putting the AT-ATs at the end of the movie instead of the beginning wasn't that radical a change.

If the next GB was directed by Johnson, we'd still get a return of Vigo, only now he'd occasionally dance around like Kate McKinnon and pontificate over whether the Ghostbusters were really good guys or the wrongful imprisoners of other people's souls.

Reasonable but entirely opinion based. It's just as reasonable to say it was the worst of the three, as there's fair reasons to support either view.

It all depends on the movie and the content.

I could watch something like Seven Samurai for 3 1/2 hours and not even notice.

Watched The Suicide Squad last night; while it was a decent movie, it was about 45 minutes too long.

I'm intrigued by House of Gucci, because it looks like it might be very good.

Yes, that's entirely the problem.  Nothing wrong with a three hour movie if there's three hours of story, which too much often is not the case.

He has a reputation of being a nightmare on set because he belongs to the asshole method-acting school, where he is terrible to everyone around him because that is his his character would be. He's also been terribly miscast in a few roles where he was breathtakingly bad (his turn as the Joker really gave him both reputations). When he is cast well and not terrorizing the rest of the set, he is decent. The problem is his default character is almost always an asshole, which then creates a lot of the problems.
