Wait. This is asinine that for more that 6 months you refuse to come pay for and pick up something that you ordered and after warning you the company cancels your order? Like I get some of the Tesla hate but 6 MONTHS? I'm pretty sure bestbuy would do that after 24 hours with a graphics card in the same situation

You can't apply normal expectations to this situation after all, this is Tesla, so when someone is sitting in the back seat and crashes, it's the fault of the name of the cruise control feature, not the driver - when they catch fire, despite it being 10 times less likely than a gas-powered vehicle they are considered risky and gas cars safe.

Clearly they should be allowing you to delay your order for years and as subby insinuated, anything less is asinine.

Heck, Lowe's gives people seven days to pick up an order.  Never mind that the part available right now is 1% of the cost of the whole order and the main part isn't available yet.

According to TFA the original purchase agreement says you need to take delivery in 30 days. If they've given you 6 months, I'd say they've been more than accommodating. shiat or get off the pot, asshole!

In ATL, I regularly see the the ID4, Mach-E, Leaf, i3, and whatever the Kia and Hyundai EVs are called. Someone near me even owns a Polestar. Teslas are certainly the most numerous EVs I see, but the landscape isn't as monolithic as it was just 12 months ago.

Knowing Elon, he'll activate Hostage Mode. You'll see live video of the very car you put your deposit down on, and if you don't come and pick it up before the 48hr countdown, it bursts into flames, and burns for another 24hrs.  You lose your deposit and Elon livestreams your failure to accept delivery and its consequences.

1) You don't come pick up the car, they bring it to you and leave it at your doorstep. 2) Then cancel the damn order already! You're either perfectly able to spend $60k+ (or $100k+ for S and X) on a luxury car, or you're not. They are letting you off the hook for a car you can't afford! This isn't a Chevy Aveo FFS!

I slag off Tesla and Elon most of the time, but this? This only shows Tesla to be a soft cuddly bunny of a business that let's you drag out a purchase contract for an insane length of time - long past the time limit in the contract. Take delivery already, or cancel the damn thing! You can order another one later if needed!

/Wouldn't order one myself

Yeah. I am interested in the Kona electric but no one has any around me. But I'm a bit hesitant with the charging network. Love or hate Tesla, they have 2-3x the charging network of the others right now

Most bookkeepers would be unhappy about a sale left pending from one quarter to the next. The rules require you to actually close sales in a reasonable amount of time, or at least follow a written policy that puts a time limit on it.

I don't give Elon Musk a thought until his name is posted on Fark.  I will never buy a Tesla because they're overpriced garbage. If other people want to buy one, that's great.  I don't care.

You can't expect the Musk haters to be current. One thread a guy thought he was being clever remarking that a Model S couldn't do three 1/4 miles in a row (true when it came out).  TFA was talking about 40 at 2% charge per.
