Guess I'll never know.

I got the Hulu trial when it only cost $2 a month. I couldn't deal with the annoying screaming car insurance commercials and it quickly became unwatchable and I'll never go back. Those commercials are so annoying they should be paying me.

The social network was on last time I was donating blood.

Thankfully I had a book with me.  Just awful.

Those were early viral marketing campaigns before they were called that. Porn publishers hired trappers during the off-season to emplace unsold copies where teenage boys would find them...

How did they leave off Palm Springs? It's the best Groundhog Day sequel since Happy Death Day.

By the way, Hulu's ads are easy to bypass if you're watching on a computer. Just install ABP and the commercials turn into a five second black screen.

Considering this is a thread about hulu movies... which don't have ads at all (nor have they ever), I'm not sure the point you're trying to make.

With that said, unless they broke/changed something recently, that does NOT work.  The last time I tried hulu with ABP (admittedly it's been a few years), it literally threw up a message forcing me to turn it off.  Wouldn't even let me start the video. Same with all the streaming services with ads.  Not like I actively try and bypass those commercials, I just forget ABP is on... because webpages are straight up unusable without it.  I'll happily remove ABP when pages are not just literally a wall of autoplaying ads that take up 80% of the screen.  I figured, that like pop-ups that disappeared once pop-up blockers were a thing, that webpages would be more accomodating and less annoying so that people wouldn't need to use ad blockers.  But, going on at least a decade now, it's not gotten any better.

Odd... worked for me just a few days ago. I also have ABP, Ghostery, and AB running simultaneously, so that helps. I brought it up because some of the discussion here inevitably turned to how the discounted Hulu plan handles ads.

To your first point, Palm Springs is a Hulu-only movie and one of the few exclusives the service has that makes it worth a trial or more.

I'm trying to watch Hit Monkey. I get constant sports betting ads. God i hate those damn things. I get them, facebook, and Ronald McDonald House ones. Maybe an insurance one.

I have no idea why people rave about crap things, Or diss good things. Hell or High Water is fantastic. It has the single most effective movie punch I've ever seen. And other things, of course, which are also good.

It's excellent.  These two and Sicario round out Taylor Sheridan's "trilogy", watching all 3 together is quite an experience.

Agreed.

I almost never watch Hulu anymore, but they have a sneaky good selection of foreign flicks.  Recently enjoyed Dear Comrades!, about some small town Soviet officials reacting to a local labor strike.  Not as dry as it sounds, I promise.

They were right about Princess Bride: as a book reader, I dreaded the movie release, fearing that they couldn't pull off the weird narrative style. They wisely distilled it into just a few interactions, but completely eliminated the humorous "Morgenstern (the purported original author of TPB) was just such a tool" comments.

We saw the movie first (as a supermarket vhs rental), so had no expectations or worries. But Goldman was already an extremely successful film screenwriter too, as that meta-story in the book claimed. So not too surprising that his screenplay was an effective but still faithful rewrite.

We wound up with a few hulu accounts in their early years, mostly lazy setup for a few free trials + a month or three. For a few years, they've been emailing the dormant accounts great black friday offers, including this year. First .99 per month for a year, then 1.99, this time back to .99. That's a very easy decision, as we've both found lots of pretty good stuff separately & together - The Great currently.

Computer ad-blocking has been bumpy at times. Recently, ABP frequently stalled playback and needed a refresh, but uBlock is working very effectively here. On devices, a pi-hole does not seem to have any impact at all. Omg, if I had known what legalized sports gambling really meant, I'd have given some money to the opposition groups. They've made me appreciate insurance commercials.

Hell or High Water is better than Wind River. I think you'll enjoy it.

I thought they were about equal. I liked Jeff Bridges' character quite a bit (essentially the same Ranger Nick Nolte played in Extreme Prejudice, right down to the same wardrobe and sidearm) and I did find myself rooting for a more definitive outcome in the final scene.
Wind River is much darker, one particular scene is extremely disturbing.
I've liked the works of that Tyler Sheridan (assuming I have his name right) such as the two Sicardo movies but I haven't watched any of Yellowstone yet. Every clip I have seen seems to show them acting like mobsters, telling people to get off their property, beating people up who talk to them wrong. Is this thing like Longmire mixed with Dallas mixed with The Sopranos?

Sicario, that is.

Also, Hulu has an excellent new series on serial killers in Los Angeles in the late 70s and early 80s. So that's a fun one.
