(Fark)   How many days after theoretical covid exposure should you take a rapid test? Asking for myself... because guess which variant came to Thanksgiving?   (fark.com) divider line

When you get the metallic taste you'll know.
If you don't feel sick, don't waste other people's time.
If you feel sick, then they are there for you.

Have you forgotten asymptomatic carriers?

my urgent care said if you'd been symptomatic for 5 days get the rapid because your viral load is high enough for strong accuracy, for everything else get the PCR.

generally speaking just ask for the PCR every time, it's more accurate.

however down here in FL they barely even offer the test to you unless you go to the public drive-through testing site (by appointment, one test per person per day, you pick the type). can't have an increasing caseload if we don't test, just like TFG said!

so much easier to give every single person with a cough or stuffy nose a z-pak, prednisone pack, and a bottle of dexamethasone cough syrup and send them home untested!

You should have had everyone take a rapid test before coming to the dinner.

I would test twice at 4 and 8 days. Also consider PCR, as it's more sensitive for picking up an early infection before viral levels have peaked. And obviously quarantine yourself as much as possible while waiting for the tests.

Yeah
Subby ain't worried about other people
Even more reason to avoid others

fark, we've been doing this almost two years now and people still aren't clear on what to do?

You mean there are still people who don't run right out and get a test every time they get stuffy nose?

Samsies for testing twice.

We're fortunate testing is easy and you can get both types done at the same time.

Dexamethasone and prednisolone? Or are you thinking of codeine cough syrup like histussin or tussinex?

FFS, from the CDCs website.  Read it, read it all, then read it again and take notes.

Common question
What should I do if I have been exposed to someone with COVID-19?

Anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 should quarantine for 14 days after their last exposure to that person, except if they meet the following conditions:

Someone who has been fully vaccinated and shows no symptoms of COVID-19 does not need to quarantine. However, fully vaccinated close contacts should:

Wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until a negative test result.
Get tested 5-7 days after close contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
Get tested and isolate immediately if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

"A luscious biatch she is, true
But it's not nice to fool mother nature
The proud mother of god
Like all ho's
Is jealous of her own shadow
So who is this young Vic Tanny biatch
Who wish to be queen for a day?
Who would sacrifice the great grandsons and daughters
Of her jealous mother
By sucking their brain
Until their ability to think was amputated
By pimping their instincts
Until they were fat, horny and strung-out
In her neurotic attempt to be queen of the universe
Who is this biatch?"

I recently heard people I work with wonder why they still had to wear a mask after getting vaccinated twice.  And were mad because "it's just like the flu".  Two years.  Two effing years.

My 30-something niece declared "people are over Covid," so I'm not doing anything. The hostess works for a university and is getting tested Tuesday.

We are never going to get the upper hand on this virus. Welcome to endemic Covid-19. Stupid people trying to pretend this virus away will be why we never beat it.

Our promt care doesn't do a rapid test until 2 days of some kind of symptom. The rapids are way less accurate, get the normal test 5 days after exposure and quarantine until you get it back. Because the accuracy of the rapid and low viral load from a minor infection it is possible to get a false sense of security from a rapid. Get a second regular test 2 days later if you really want to be sure or are around high risk people.
We had 4 people die after last Christmas, doesn't hurt to be a little more careful. 99% chance it doesn't matter, but that 1% can do a lot of damage.

Oh yeah, it's endemic. Doubt we could have stopped it, to be honest, C19 has a very strong set of "very infectious" with "long asymptomatic infectious phase" combination.

But the stupid didn't help either.

Ain't that the truth? The problem is all the individual pockets of idiots from different schools of morony are now blending into a tsunami of deadly morons.

Late to the party but:

1. Not everyone with covid has a metallic taste.
2. Other sinus and throat infections can give that taste as well.

So don't listen to Cretinbob's terrible advice.

I think testing is nearly useless & definitely deadly. During the period between exposure & testing, a few days, you can infect others. Whereas if one is innoculated, the chances of spreading is greatly diminished. I heard on telly tonight that one person can infect 50/day! However, if vaccinated, the chances of spreading even the newest variant is closer to zero. Testing means delay & death. We could have had nearly the World jabbed by now. This Conservative foot dragging is killing us! This is akin to your right to swing your fist ends at my nose. No one has the right to be Typhoid Farkin' Mary and wander about spreading disease and filth from their unclean body.
