Its been so long since I've given a crap about blizzard and their products, the most topical quip I can make is that I bet they left in groups of up to 12 at a time.

So he resigned? Was fired?

Until that actually happens, how does this change anything?

Activision was the original 3rd party video game publisher started by disgruntled programmers from Atari in the early 80's. After the video game crash Kotick bought the company and has ruled it with an iron grip ever since. Sounds like Activision's employees are disgruntled again. It's time for the company to go back to it's roots.

It's the first time anyone's serious made a run at Kotick - who as I have said many times is pretty personally responsible for nu-gaming "monetization uber alles" bullshiat.  Not even being exaggerative here - he really is.  For those that think I'm kidding, here's a quote from I believe 2010:

"You have studio heads who five years ago didn't know the difference between a balance sheet and a bed sheet who are now arguing allocations in our CFO's office pretty regularly. We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making videogames."

Two things:

1) it didn't really hit the main stream or financial press, and that's what Kotick is more concerned about. If it doesn't start costing the company investors, he doesn't care.

2) Bobby will burn the place to the ground before he lets anyone run him out of office. Anyone involved in gaming has known that for a long time. And a big part of the problem is that people Have been trying to get rid of him without harming the company. They just need to accept that a peaceful transition of power with him was, and never will be, an option.

Sorta looks like a victory lap before the race has truely started.
Making someone uncomfortable isn't the same as forcing them out.

Good first steps and all but there's far more ahead.

He's still there, he had another guy.

A 150- person walkout during a holiday week when no one is paying attention? No offense, but that's grade school level protesting.

Is there a strike? Mass resignation? Everyone get the flu for 2 weeks? Did the CEO actually quit? No? Then why are you taking a victory lap?

Both EA and Activision started as companies dedicated to game designers that wanted to make the games *they* wanted, and not what some corporate jerk did. And now they've become what they were created to fight against.

They let the bean counters back into the loop which undermined their founding principles.

Kotick hired out of the Trump organization.
That means Activision/Blizzard has been Touched by Trump.
And we all know what that means.

This reminds me of the recent Lockheed Martin walkouts.

Didn't you hear about those?

Yeah. Nobody else has either.

Few hundred folks who chose to stage a walkout during Thanksgiving week.

And yeah, they're claiming victory too.
