Top 1000 songs for Boomers you mean right?

2021-11-26 5:09:14 PM
Neither of these lists are 1000 Prince songs.

2021-11-26 5:10:14 PM
That certainly is a list of songs.

1. Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone

Yeah, no.  F*Ck this list and whomever thought it up.

2021-11-26 6:29:46 PM
Ah, yes.

Has the Monkees "I'm a Believer" ranked #50 and neither Traffic's "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" or Jethro Tull's "Aqualung" are in the top 100.

"...that makes sense."

2021-11-26 6:34:59 PM
Actually, neither in top 300.  No longer searching.

Also, George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue is #300.  So this is songs of all time.  Not modern songs or rock songs.

So we might be missing, I dunno, "Für Elise"?

Stopped scrolling after the first 20 songs listed...

I hate to burst the gen x, millenniums, and what ever else the young people call themselves, but the best boomer music is far superior to your music, hands down, deal with it.
Now get off my lawn!

Night Moves isn't in the top 1000 anything, except as #1 song that sucks ass.

So, I started reading the list. (Because I'm a masochist.) Anyway, it reminded me of the time my brother and I were talking music and I praised She's the One by Bruce Springsteen. He rolled his eyes at my lameness and put on a song that showed me how wrong I was. She Loves You (982!?!) by the Beatles. Now, whenever, I hear about some song rocking, I think back to how my brother showed me up.

When I read lists like these it makes me marvel at how few of these people seem to have ears.

Songs lists are all subjective to the list composer but IMHO, the absolute #1 line from a song that totally epidimizes the absolute soul of rock-n-roll goes to-

Don't Speak is #9? That song probably should even be on the list.

Nope.

I dunno. De gustibus etc. etc., but looking at the top 50 the choices seem ... solid and safe, I guess, but I can name songs by each of those artists that I personally find a hell of a lot more interesting, musically and lyrically.

And I think friggin' Piano Man is about the most overrated song ever. The Doors-level overrated.

Heh. I have an almost irrational hate for anything that stinks of Jim Steinman, so I'd probably put that one it in the low 8,423,050s

Dr.Fey: So we might be missing, I dunno, "Für Elise"?

Not sung, so technically not a "song"?

Would be a good call, but #300 on the list, among others, are not sung, either, so that's not how they are defining 'song.'

I also considered they meant sound recording, but that doesn't work, either.  It's pretty much just someone's labor of love.  But not someone who really understood what they were really accomplishing.

It's 'in their opinion and by their definition' of greatest songs.

/The worst thing about this kind of thing, that always chaps my hide, so to speak, is that there will be a bunch of Wikipedia pages that list X song along the lines of 'considered by some to be a top 10/25/50 of all time' because Wiki loves a citation, even if it ain't factual.

My kid is up on all the computer beep boopstep.  The best of it is listenable and makes good driving music, but I haven't bought any records or whatever it is that one does now.

Night moves is the guy from Main Street pretending he had a real girlfriend instead of just imagining to himself that a stripper was going to be his girlfriend.
