My wife and I have two kids, I get it that things come up but this is a shiate thing to do to someone.  I vote for her to take it easy, move on, and find better friends.

Is this the adult version of some kid who had a birthday party, and no one he invited showed up, so a lot of strangers, famous people from TV and music, and members of a sports team show up?

Then it becomes fapsgiving.

Alone with the SO on Thanksgiving? Clear the table, the turkey's not the only thing getting stuffed, if you know what I mean

I hate this new MSN format. I don't want to see close-ups of these people. WTF?!

No one wants your cat hair casserole missy. Sure, go to the bar buy a round of drinks....do a escape room...go bowling.

But frankly...you should have known when you said 'decorated the entire basement'

I spent yesterday with just my puppy because things just haven't been the same since I built my house.

Last year I kind of even avoided family at Christmas.

I might try to do something with neighbors before Christmas because they are the only people I talk to on a regular basis, but I couldn't even get a lot of them here for the OSU game I hosted (when more people showed up to other people's houses for games)

Is this sad posting, some kind of new trend.  I don't even believe her that she invited friends and they didn't show up.  I believe that this is how she planned to get her five minutes of fame.

I've been to several friendsgiving events.  A kind person I know sometimes hosts them.  It's usually a few family members, some out of town co-worker, and just a generally weird mix of people who are otherwise disassociated from their family at the moment.  Basically, you invite the people who seem like they'd benefit from companionship, and they show up and everyone has a lovely time.

I was lucky to be invited to a misfits Thanksgiving in 1999.  It was awesome.  Anyway, one of the mechanics at work, his wife was/is a nurse and they were so kind to invite people from the shop who had nowhere to go.
/I don't think I got too drunk and made a mess that time.

This happened to an associate of mine. Our clique held a friendsgiving senior year of college, so one of the self declared leaders tried to do it the year afterward. One person showed. It wasn't as bad as this because no one RSVP'd in the first place. This was decades ago and they didn't want to hear that people aren't going to travel for two Thanksgiving dinners in one week.

1) If it were true, then her boyfriend is an irredeemable twat for broadcasting her misery to get views on TikTok.
2) then again, if it's a lie, then her boyfriend is still an irredeemable twat for setting this horsesh*t up for sympathy views on TikTok.

It's just that in the second case, she's every bit as sh*tty as he is.

The likelihood that literally everyone would stand you up is basically zero. A couple people maybe, sure. Someone sending regrets they can't make it, okay. But everyone just up and not showing up, none of them communicating with her?  Short of an actual Carrie-like conspiracy situation, I don't see this happening.

At least her boyfriend was good enough to broadcast her hurt and humiliation to the entire world.

People sometimes get invited to multiple Thanksgiving dinners.

While that might be an excuse to skip one of them, it also creates the possibility of attending multiple Thanksgiving dinners.

There's more pie that way.

I had a big party planned for my 30th birthday, that no one showed up for. The patrons at the bar heard about it, and kept buying me shots all night. I don't think I ended up having to a tab, but the strangers were nice enough to arrange a ride home for me, and someone brought me my car.

Ah I've had about 8 years now where my birthday consists of going to a bar. And just silently drink the night away.

My 25th was great though. Big weed cookie cake and the unfortunate mishap that was the kegged 50 proof ipa (I had to... I got my hands on distillers yeast...) I can safely say I do not remember the resulting week.

A month later I started hiking across the country.

Maryann added that she was no longer friends with the people who skipped her dinner.

Maybe they weren't actually friends, she only thought they were friends.  Or perhaps they were all imaginary friends and now she has to confront the issue of her mental illness.  Anyway, I'm not buying this story 100%.

Happens with my wife's group of 'friends' all the time.  One of them tries to plan something, everyone tells them what a great idea that is, then they argue for a week over what date and time works for the most people.

Maybe one will say they can't make it, the others just never say they can and then don't.

Yet they all take turns with this stupid game and never kill each other.

This is why you do Friendsgiving in April. The whole idea is to subvert expectations, you nimrods.

The last time I remember my parents attempting to host anything was a new year's party around 30 some-odd years ago. No one showed up at all.

Dad had been out of the Navy for a year or three, and at the time was a fairly new supervisor at the civilian place he worked for another 20+ years. Just like in the Navy they just let it be known come on over and there would be food and booze.

Difference is in military life let that be known and the place would be hoppin'. This time absolutely nothing. No one gave a single fark.

Sometimes I'm so happy I was only engaged once and never married.

Sorry to hear about how life's treating you. And really I love bar birthdays. You can talk to who you want to, spend the night people watching, don't have to deal with asshole family members. It really is a nice way to spend the day you start another year of your mortality.

Sorry honey I have to break it to you.  FACEBOOK FRIENDS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!  Okay now that the band-aid is ripped off I do have good news.  Your FB "friends" are still a legitimate news source.

We also did an impromptu forced friendsgiving last year.

One roomie was from half a world away and wasn't gonna get enough time off to fly home. He was going to do a little meal with his girlfriend while I and roommate number two went off.

I made all that moot by getting a sinus infection bad enough to make us worry I'd caught COVID. I didn't get the negative test results back until the day after the holiday.

The roomie who couldn't travel was critical and already vaccinated, same for his girl. Neither I nor the other roomie were in any of the early cohorts, but his girlfriend was and works in medical. She was extra-cautious so they cancelled their plans, while I cancelled my usual trip to the parents.

So we whipped up a last minute feast and a great time was had.

That's clearly what they're hoping for, stay tuned on her TikTok - fake friends, fake views, fake videos.

Cutting them off! Maryann added in another TikTok video that she was no longer friends with the people who skipped her dinner

This poor woman is going to have a life of hurt if she doesn't get off the internet.
