I would recommend that all those fleeing Civilization (the cities, not the Sid Meier game) sit down and watch Connections with James Burke.  The first series, not those 'for ratings' versions that came later.

Yeah.  When the apocalypse comes.  I am going to be sooooooooooooooooo worried about all the rich farks I'm not currently roasting on the neighbors'' BBQ (he had a Green Egg).

Even secondhand business jets are vanishing from the market.

One could have made a killing just by buying used, clapped-out trucks in the depths of Covid. Those have risen 90% in price over the past year due to scarcity.

The worse wealth inequalities get, the more I feel.like the only viable solution will be the guillotine.

Pay a more reasonable share of taxes, accept living wages, or off with your head.

Most of them will refuse the former until we are about to pull the lever on the latter.

And then its too late.

Lol I already GTFO didn't need a jet. Will probably see a bunch landing and stranded at the local airport when jetfuel runs out.

Shorting human civilization is not a wise choice.

The article mentioned pandemic concerns that apparently the (quite literal) jet set doesn't want to fly with the unwashed and get COVID. I wonder if there's a phenomenon similar to that we've seen with real estate and quarantine that people learned their homes were too small to have all the family there at once, if people want private jets that they can get far away from their families on short notice.

Rich people fly 1st class.  REALLY rich people fly charter or own their jets.

Me and my wife combined deine what most would describe as the ever-shrinking middle class. I make about $100k a year while she makes about $30k. We live well below our means while we watch many of her hard working cohorts struggle to afford necessities. I don't know what by what mechanics change will be wrought but these inequalities are not sustainable in a civilized society.

We don't need the rich.  All we need is millions more snotty remote workers to come in and gentrify the town until the poor have to  leave.  Don't you have some spreadsheets you can make that deplete precious resources, that you can write up while you're at a dude ranch in Wyoming?  Of course you do!!

so get on with  it.  I still have a roof over my head, and I know that city people aren't satisfied until they have all of their money, and all of my view and outdoor life too.  Don't you have some more shopping to do before you move to the country?  You wouldn't want to have to talk to the locals once you get there, they probably wouldn't understand your cultured enunciation.  But you have a lot of money, so that buys a lot of "understanding."

Well, to be fair, the cabin area of a jet can be made into temporary housing.

I think that chart is skewed thanks to all the 80 year old pilots who pull a farmer's market with their piper cub. Don't see too many Learjets or Gulfstreams crash into residential neighborhoods.

Yes nearest Starbucks to me is hundreds or miles away. Doesn't really matter because we have McDonald's, burger king, pizza hut , and KFC just opened a second location.

No way they can beat 7-11 coffee....toss a few mini-marshmallows on it and you got a Latte for less..

No 7-11s in this part of the world either

That describes my MIL's husband. Fuel starvation in an engine on final approach, due to pilot error. In retrospect, it was probably an early symptom of the dementia he eventually succumbed to. His experience and skill as a pilot made it a "landing" they both walked away from, her with a broken arm, but the plane was totaled. He had many many hours flying multi-engine planes, starting with B-25's in WW2 but old age catches up with the best of us.

It has always been cheaper to fly yourself if you travel a lot. It just used to be props not jets.

Anyways, a used jet market? This is pretty much no different to seeing some second hand escalade here where I live. It isn't new, but it sure looks like it could be.

A guy I knew in Orange County, CA learned to fly in a Lear jet. He bought the jet before his first lesson!

Well the 1% are almost entirely located in 'blue' locations.  So all you blue state middle-class revolutionaries should get busy with the slaughter before the 1% get their guard up and arm the poor to be their soldiers, who will take the side of those who can offer them protection and food instead of slogans.

Someone really oghta make a comedy movie about a tech billionaire that tries to flee after some catastrophic event. He thinks everyone is going to follow his orders only to find out the helicopter pilot that was going to take him to his private jet refuses because they don't want to leave their family.  The private jet pilot already left with their family/friends.  The security detail doesn't listen to him, etc.

That's why the chopper and jet will only take off if the correct NFTs are presented

But go buy that Cirrus jet

My plan after COVID is the same as before; when everything goes to shiat it's better to eat people tham starve or be eaten by other people.

Soon all the rich people will be living in a place you can only reach only by jet or helicopther. This has already started. Search for John Travolta.

It's a baby step towards all the rich people living in space or on Mars.

We have a lot more wealth equality in most blue states.  There are parts of Arkansas that have worse poverty than sub-saharan Africa.  All red states have health care well below all industrialized nations and many in developing country status.  The cost of living (economic rents), for the 95% in Texas is actually higher than California.  Blue states like MA have legalized marijuana, resulting in huge benefits.  NY has free state college again.
The truth is that it doesn't matter how much the 0.1% make (the 1% still includes some wage workers), what matters is median income versus cost and quality of living.
And yeah, those 0.1% farkers need to pay the same wage income taxes plus FICA on all of their income.  We also need to limit trusts to 10 years and tax that money at the same rate as well.  I am in favor of a 70% marginal rate above $1 million a year, although this is surprisingly unpopular in the USA (usually someone saying pro athletes would go poor).
