I'd rather they hand out Fluvoxamine. Mental health treatment and Covid relief in one pill.

Common antidepressant slashes risk of COVID death, study says (nature.com)

What do you do with it? Shove it up your ass? There's as much proof that works as there is that  Ivermectin works.

Herd immunity. How does it work?

You don't understand vaccines.

What did I say that made you think I didn't understand vaccines?
My point is that  here in Michigan where Covid is running rampant, that no one is safe. It isn't just the unvaxxed that are getting sick.

Peters called the conditions in Michigan "dire" and the federal help "desperately needed."

Michigan guy here, and I've watched the assholes from the Republican Party fight our Governor EVERY STEP OF THE WAY in her attempts to keep this from spreading, with all their endless simpering about "freedoms" and their whiny fat faces with their sh*tty little beards and their gas station wraparound sunglasses and their waddling around Lansing with AR15s and their goddamn KIDNAPPING ATTEMPT OF MICHIGAN'S GOVERNOR.

So while it may be in poor taste to grab their lapels and scream "F*ck YOU you ignorant F*CKs!" into their stupid Trump-licking faces, that's exactly what I would like to do. But I won't, because we all know just how precious and delicate your little Republican feelings are.

No, it was just a piss-weak excuse for Fat Donny to point at a line drawn on the ground and simper "I'm not allowed to cross that so you're all on your own." Everyone knows Trump only follows rules when they suit him or when he's forced to.

But keep singing your song for your failed orange hero, maybe he'll clap his plump little hands for you.

I';m from Michigan too, and you also need to pay closer attention.

2021-11-25 10:53:15 AM
I'm in Michigan. Dad died this month of Covid. The rest the family (save one) is in denial about it being Covid or about their anti-vaccination right-wing religious cult beliefs being part of the reason Dad's dead. I'm being ostracized for being the crazy lefty who got vaccinated and begged my family to do the same.

There's no moment when right-wingers have a lightbulb go on over their head and they realize that all the stuff they've been fed by their Facebook group and church has been manipulative, insane, baseless garbage. No... They double down, create a new lie to protect themselves from the ugly truth, and then burn the witch who says "maybe this could have been prevented with a little bit of reason."

There's no happy ending to the Covid story. Millions will die while flipping off the rest of us, and their like-minded family and friends will blame the rest of us for their misery and fear while causing us the same.

The cult can't be un-brainwashed. Not even death scares them into reality. And it's horrifying and disheartening to bear witness to it, knowing there's no hope of reaching them... Knowing they've convinced themselves there's no hope of "reaching" the rest of us and getting us to join them and be "saved" from the conspiracy.

I feel like Rosemary in Rosemary's Baby. It sucks. I don't recommend it.

Anyway, the big problem in Michigan is that the western coast of the state and most of the "middle of nowhere" parts of the state with small populations (that add up when put together) have a large number of people who are all-in on the cult, and their legislators cut off the Governor's ability to protect the public health because those people NEEDED to be able to go out to bars, gather in churches, and overpopulate restaurants and county fairs. They couldn't hold off for a year. They couldn't vaccinate because that's been politicized. They don't care about anyone else, and they don't believe COVID-19 is really a big deal.

And there aren't enough sane, rational people to oppose the death cult. So... cheers, I guess.

That's a false narrative. Americans did observe lockdown: that's provable from cases of the common cold dropping to almost nothing in 2020, and several strains even going extinct.

But you just couldn't handle it, Americans of every stripe. "But my fambily, buht spring break, but Easter, but Mother's day, but graduation, but.. And you can see the corollating case spike after every one of them.

But we saved the economy, so that's something.

That's a false narrative. Americans did observe lockdown: that's provable from cases of the common cold dropping to almost nothing in 2020, and several strains even going extinct.

That was great. This year, however, people are sick as shiat. Half my coworkers are coughing up a lung. We make them mask, and be tested, but the colds are disgusting this year. And if folks are passing colds around, they're passing COVID.

Barricaded Gunman: cretinbob: The GOP isn't to blame this time.

Yes they goddamn are, 100% They've blocked and/or incessantly b*tched and whined about every attempt to beat this

cretinbob:People are fatigued and don't want to do it anymore.

No sh*t, Einstein, but "Boo hoo, pandemics make me sad" isn't an excuse to behave the way Republicans have.

cretinbob:They were told the vaccine was 100% effective

Are you a liar or do you really believe this? Honest question. Literally f*cking NO ONE has said this. Ever.

I will say, however, that I wholeheartedly support you people refusing the vaccine - because if it was up to ME you would be denied access to it.

you should seriously avail yourself of some legal weed.  you are too angry to do yourself or anyone any good.  you've got legitimate reasons to be angry, man, but this is not healthy.

It wasn't Trump rules. It was military rules.

And Trump was the Commander in Chief of the military, and we all know how respectful Fat Donny is about rules and tradition. There was simply nothing he could do, huh? Mewl for Fat Donny a little more, Trumpanzee.

Yes, but it was rules already in place. It wasn't anything started by Trump or put in place by him.

New Yorkers: "We need help from the federal government!"
[Trump provides help, with a US Navy hospital ship]
You: [biatch about rules that they don't treat geriatric patients]

Just so I have this right--this isn't considered a national emergency? Because I feel like if it were, we should be able to, I dunno, institute mandates or something rather than just throw a bandaid over this sucking wound and hoping for the best while the states continue to do nothing to stop the many thousands of deaths of their citizens at the hands of their deliberate neglect.

wxboy: We Ate the Necco Wafers: Washington isn't in any enviable position, but looking at other states is just surreal. We had 1,000 new cases yesterday. 20,000 new cases in Michigan is just crazy.

We're ~75% fully vaccinated out here. Michigan is around 50%. That extra 25% seems to really make a huge difference.

The vaccination gap there isn't that wide. As a percent of total population, WA is at about 65% fully vaccinated while MI is at 54%. That gap holds up for the various age cutoffs on the CDC website.

WA's case rate over the last 7 days is 141/100k. MI is at 560/100k (highest in the country).

WA reported 1,037 new cases on the most recent day. MI reported 7,360.

So all in all it's not as bad as you said. It's still really bad, though. Which is too bad, because it's going to make me not visit my parents for Christmas again this year if it doesn't improve dramatically in the next few weeks.

FWIW, I went back and you're right on all counts. It seems that Google aggregates 3 day's worth of new cases, so 20k is actually ~7k per day.

I'm not sure I'm fully on board with counting people who can't get vaccinated, but I get where those numbers are coming from as well.

Other than that, we are in full agreement.

They could always follow floridas example and bring their cases down or they can keep copying California and watch their numbers keep surging.  History if not revised by the woke will show the truth.

Doesn't matter who's fault it was.

Sending that big hospital ship to NYC and then it only tries to treat like, 50 people? A giant publicity stunt that just wasted time and money. You probably would've got more good done long term if you just paid the same amount in people's med school tuition.

If you don't want to get the vaccine I hear this stuff is worlds better than Ivermectin:
