(SoraNews24)   Ikea Japan offering fully furnished apartment to rent for less than a dollar a month? Smells fishy, aside from the fact that the apartment is being leased by a giant landwalking shark   (soranews24.com) divider line

If moving just required three suitcases and a few book boxes, I wouldn't object.

It's actually an active showroom in one of their stores. Exhibitionists welcome.

The apartment is "10 square meters (107 square feet) wide".  It's also 23 kg (about 50 pounds) in height and has a mass of 120 lumens.

I guess the classic joke about someone changing yen to dollars multiple days in a row and getting different amounts of each time is no longer PC.

Can you imagine waking up to that? I Great White mixed with a giant spider, weighing multiple tons, and walking by your bedroom window?

A tiny hotel sized room in Shinjuku? Probably herpes.

That's an exaggeration. It's only a porpoise.

Not nearly enough Square meters. it's cheap but impractical even for a person with low amounts of personal belongings.

They're paying people to get lost in IKEA? And I've been doing it for free all this time??

Prof. Frink: What's the catch?

I skimmed the Terms and Conditions.

Basically, the winner is going to earn their keep being a promotional whore for Ikea. Posting pics, doing interviews, video of their living space, attending events etc. Has to use only Ikea products, held to a standard of behavior or they'll be kicked out at a moment's notice, Ikea owns the right to the winners image in perpetuity throughout the universe etc. Can't bad mouth Ikea by phone, internet, text etc. OR promote a competitor for up to 3 years after the end of the lease.

Also, it's a one year lease and moving out expenses are on the winner. Winner pays all utilities and there's a security deposit but it doesn't say how much.

There's gotta be a catch. This is along the lines of "Buy this castle for a dollar but it's a historic landmark and needs millions of dollars to refurbish and it's open to the public."

Why is there a pit trap to the left of the door? That seems excessive, given the rest of the space restrictions.

You just have to put it together yourself.
