What's Ironic is that he is actually worse than anyone in The Squid Game.

What's also ironic is they are condemning people for watching a show can be seen as a criticism of materialism and capitalist society.

Their determination to keep The Squid Game out of North Korea is a tribute to efficiency.

2021-11-24 6:58:53 PM
Sentenced to death? Jeez, I mean, it's not like it was The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale.

2021-11-24 6:59:25 PM
Couldn't you just take a Video Camera, on that case?

2021-11-24 6:59:57 PM
The smuggler who brought the copies in is set to be killed by firing squad,

You'd think they would be a little more creative than than that.  Maybe use subby's suggestion, or one of the other games in Squid Game.

Wait, it's a criticism of capitalism?

You don't have to put on the red light.   Those days are over.

They're worried the peasants will look at the desperate situations of all the contestants, and say, "But they're still better off than us!"

/But I haven't seen Squid Game, so I don't know

So I guess he gets to play a game of red light, red light.

Damn does NK suck totall donkey balls. 5 years hard labor for just watching a TV show.
It's even got a message that NK should like. "Look how bad things are in the south. People are so desperate for money, they'll kill each other, unless glorious Best Korea were everyone has enough.  In fact, Dear Leader just increases the chocolate rations to 20 grams"

I hope those people get a better life someday.

I have seen it and that's probably true. It's definitely a criticism of South Korean capitalism and society but there still might be enough in the movie the North Korea government doesn't want the North Korean masses to be aware of.

2021-11-24 7:22:09 PM
Well, there may be hope for the Norks after all, as long as they keep their commitment to thwarting the scourge of dystopian acts and imagery...

That and the North Korean character playing the game to help find her family and provide for her brother.

Well, it's a good thing we got rid of the guy who felt a North Korean general was worthy of being rendered honors.

2021-11-24 7:25:24 PM
One of the characters escaped from the North and as we all know, that never actually happens. We can't allow anyone to think it does. Also, if we allow this show in, then we have to allow all shows about paradise. Handmaid's Tale, Battle Royale. We can't let people think there's a better world out there.

Yeah, when it comes to "Fark around and find out" North Korea takes the game a little bit too seriously.

The North Korean Penis Hat is hilarious. If they can remain a nation for another 25 years I think that those hats will be about 6' tall.

They were playing Red light green light at the school up the street last week.  I could hear it over the loudspeaker.

It was horrifying.

Or NK doesn't give a rat's ass about what's in the show and just executed him for smuggling.

It shows a LOT of south Korea and what life is like there.

That's more than enough.

2021-11-24 7:55:37 PM
I suppose one reason they must be against the movie because the people in charge at least FED the game's participants before shooting them?

2021-11-24 8:15:30 PM
They can re-print the same story in 6 months but change North Korea to Iran, or China, or pretty much any other foreign Country and it will be as believable.  Is there anything here that's a reportable verifiable fact, or do we just have to accept the article as fact because it's been printed?

The smuggler who brought the copies in is set to be killed by firing squad, according to the outlet, while the student who bought the copy was sentenced to life in prison. Six others who watched the show will face five years of hard labor, while teachers and school officials were fired and may be sent to remote areas for work.

I'm guessing those school officials are now slave labor. I'd say we should attack their power grid or something similarly mundane in nature and hard to prove, but something tells me they're already in the stone age.

2021-11-24 9:03:51 PM
The smuggler brought the copies in on USB drives and SD cards and sold them to one student, who allowed multiple friends to watch the series. The streams were picked up by a government task force specialized in illegal streaming, which bans content from capitalist societies such as the U.S. and South Korea, among others, as of last year.

Okay, but is it wrong to point out that copies on USB drives and SD cards are not streaming? I'll be the first to say that North Korea has a garbage government, but can we please get some level of actual understanding in reporting?

They won't, unless they attack their government.

No one in the world with any power gives a sh*t about them.

I still have not finished the last two episodes of this show. The 2 major "twists" were foreshadowed in like the 2nd or 3rd episode, I guessed them immediately, and then got largely bored with it. Surely, I can't be the only one...

I don't think the North Korean intranet is set up for that, nor do I think that's what the article is referring to, but if it is, I will retract my comment.

Not gonna lie, I am actually a little bit surprised that North Korea has not yet tried to do a Running Man type of game show, where criminals compete for a pardon. If any country was going to do that it would be Best Korea.

Like all the food stands, high-level medical care (even if it is expensive), nice cars, glittery high-rises, etc.

Meanwhile, your average Best Korean is gathering weeds for dinner.

One of the key characters escaped from North Korea with her brother and is trying to get the money together to get the rest of her her family smuggled south, so I'm sure they aren't crazy about that aspect of the show.

The monstrous psychological torture experiment gone horribly wrong and ongoing crime against humanity that is the Nork government will continue to exist for as long as China is afraid of having a land border with the prosperous democratic nation of South Korea, unfortunately.
