Him stealing a 2005 Ford Five Hundred already indicts him as being more than a little stupid. He was just looking to end all doubt by taking a selfie.

So painfully true. My mom was burglarized one while she was at work. Dude left behind prepaid calling cards and blood everywhere when he got sliced open from the broken glass he came in through. Really nasty.

Cops didn't want to investigate the calling cards to see where/how they were used, let alone wanted to take a DNA sample of the blood.

The police just plain don't care to protect anyone other than their own.

We have the trinity of morons and selfies. The insurrection, an armored truck crashed and money flew everywhere. Apparently even though it was on the ground, taking it is still a federal crime and people were taking video of each other grabbing it. And this.

And the carjacker, unsure of that, accidentally took a selfie while trying to wipe it clean.

I'm sure they'd care if the car was stolen from a car dealer or similar corporation.  From a private citizen?  Not so much.  Might change if you appeared rich enough that personally incorporating might be something you tell your accountant to handle for you.

Been listening to a lot of true crime stories lately and the common thread always seems to be people "doing the right thing" reporting creepers to law enforcement only to be told "Well they haven't hurt anyone or done anything yet so we can't do anything".

Then when it comes out later that the individual butchered 600 chickens and screwed a beagle, they're all surprised Pikachu face over it.

Guess the real takeaway in all that is when they say they "can't" do anything they're actually saying they "can but won't" do anything.
