This is one of the reasons I think inflation may be here for a while - people aren't willing to accept shiat pay for a crappy job, so salaries are going to keep going up. It's my belief we're watching a market correction of Congress's complete inability to raise the minimum wage in over a decade.

I work service and our shop reopened at the beginning of the month after being closed since 2020 (part of that time this year was due to renovations to the shop). We did not take shiat from customers before but we absolutely are not now; we will not hesitate to calmly but firmly tell a rude, disrespectful, or mask-obstinate customer to take a hike and spend their money elsewhere cause ain't nobody got time for that bullshiat.

GetGo said that the worker had had a "negative experience" but that the complaint was "inaccurate."

Because a corporate entity has the grounds and perspective to make this claim.

Seriously, imagine saying, "Our employee was mistaken about being mistreated." That is an insane level of lying.

People have always been shiat, but have been getting way, way worse of late. I wish I could put my finger on why.
I'm just glad I no longer have to do customer support; I don't think I'd survive currently.

It's funny how they're so desperate for workers that she's still employed even after walking off.

My theory is a combination of empowered asshats beginning with the affluenza defense and escalating from there. Plus, everyone is wound tight. I'm getting my booster tomorrow but I'm still kinda freaked out in crowds ( I didn't used to be). You then have the anti-vaxxers who are also wound tight for entirely different reasons.

I'm also thinking that with so many people who quarantined and are working from home, many forgot how to behave in public, and that others are people too.

The people who are assholes are likely the same people that never quarantined and believe the whole pandemic is a hoax. I am willing to bet the venn diagram is a perfect circle.

"Literally the only person working here and the sole authority on the matter was totally wrong about his personal work experience, as far as we can tell from the corporate office"

"This regrettable sign in no way reflects the appreciation our company and the dedicated Moon Township store team have for those we serve."

Even if those we serve treat us like crap.

Forty plus years of wage stagnation by businesses and politicians coming undone. However a giant chunk of inflation is businesses without any real competition engaging in rent-seeking behavior.

The commercialization of rage. Social, political, and news organizations are prioritizing engagement with the masses, and the most effective way to guarantee that is to give people something to be angry about. This amplifies negative behavior by making it disproportionately more visible, but also encourages negative behavior (or the presentation of others behaviors as negative) as a path to wealth. This also affects the audience by making such behavior seem more mainstream and therefore acceptable and just makes people unpleasant by keeping them in a state of high stress.

That's my guess anyway.
