I used to know somebody who was quite insistent that dachshunds were called 'Datsuns'.

Must have been friends with the guy I knew who referred to his Samoyed as a Samoan.

I had a standard dachshund as a kid and she would do that.  When the snow got deeper, she'd just tunnel through.
