Hayley Atwell deserves another shot at the MCU.  They're already doing a multiverse thing, might as well canonize it.

Excalibur was my favorite X-series for a few years. Probably because it didn't have as much to do with the other X-titles.

He'd work. It would be nice to see him play a Super-type character without the crappy scripting of Snyder's Asshole Universe.

Actually, though, if I were Feige I'd invite Cavill to play Hyperion.  That's Marvel's direct rip-off of Superman. It would be hilarious to see him play Superman better in the MCU than in DC's movies.

They could also do Sentry, another Superman rip-off. But he's crazy.

Either Hyperion or Captain Britain would be pretty cool. Sentry sucks both as a character and a plot device.

ok but just as long as we end up with a take on Moore's Mad Jim Jaspers/Fury story arc.

I'm pretty sure my wife will watch him in anything where there is a threat he'll take his shirt off. Or wear a suit.  Or calmly say something cool.

Dude's got some serious nerd cred. Plus, actors like getting paid. Add in the fact that if Feige calls, you say yes, THEN ask what role

Yeah.  Damn nerd who is handsome, talented, rich, famous, and seems like a decent guy.

I'd be jealous but that'd require some effort and maybe resentment.  For now I'm just happy to watch his performances.  Except Superman, and that wasn't his fault.

The biggest problem I have with Captain Britain is that his back story is all kinds of weird and not all that compelling. And he's another indestructible white guy. If Marvel wants to do a flying brick besides Captain Marvel, why not tell the period story of the Blue Marvel, who was recognized as a great hero until it was revealed he was a black man? Who eventually retreated to the edge of the solar system to get away from racism.

Or maybe just cool it on the flying bricks? Marvel has one. She's a total badass. Henry Cavill could be any number of triangle-shaped square jawed heroes without treading on the super-strong, invulnerable dude who can fly.  Ditch the flying and he'd be an amazing choice for Wonder Man, Sasquatch or for that matter Hercules.

He's not just a ripoff of Superman, he is Superman, just with a backstory vague enough to get around copyright. Marvel uses him to straight up introduce Superman into their universe. The Hyperion version of Kal-El was the Last Son of a world that exploded, with a name he never learned, right before his father, whose name he never learned, shot him off into space in a rocket. He landed on another world, was raised by a kindly scientist instead of a kindly farmer who taught him the ways of truth and justice, until a multiverse crisis erased his universe. He survived the erasure and ended up in the Marvel 616 universe.

He's Kryptonian, from Krypton, probably named Kal-El at birth, he just has brown hair instead of black. And he conveniently never learns all that so Marvel can use Superman and thumb their nose at DC.

I thought quiet desperation was the English way.  I don't think I want to see a superhero movie like that.

Cavill seems to genuinely enjoy these kinds of movies, and easily surpasses the fairly low bar of craft required to do well in the roles.  I kinda feel bad for him that he happens to have randomly pulled the short straw several times to end up in abysmally bad ones (for reasons unrelated to his contributions), and wish him good luck getting this role and pulling it off well.

I mean, I'm not going to watch a farking Captain Britain movie because even nerds have to have some farking self-respect and draw a line somewhere on multinational corporations taking our money for farking shovelware, but I wish him well in the "moral support" sense, at least.

Wonder Man is a great suggestion. I remember that guy being a total selfish prick who was almost as strong as the Hulk. It'd probably be pretty fun for him to play.

Nathan Fillion has already been playing him. Granted all in background stuff and MODOK, but still.

He was an Easter egg in the GotG2 credits that got cut. In comics, Simon Williams is immortal and survived the present day to become " Hollywood"  for the OG team that included Martinex and Charlie 7. Most of those characters showed up at Yondu's funeral, but that would've been a WAY deep cut anyway.

You speak entirely for yourself. I grew up with Captain Britain with the UK imprint rag in the 70's into the Excalibur 80's, into the Captain Britain Corps into the current gen of Captain Avalon and Captain Betsy. He by far and away my favorite fictional hero and over the years I have met many people at Cons and in Comic Shops who feel the same way. He's not "shovelware" by any stretch of the imagination.

They are canonizing her. Too popular not to. Captain Carter is going to make her first comic appearance and become a member of an Avengers team in late Dec. I think its called Avengers Infinite or something like that.
