He's gonna sell arms to terrorists so he can pay off other terrorists? He's gonna literally laugh off AIDS? He's gonna sabotage American hostage negotiations for his personal benefit? He's gonna deliberately create (or at least exacerbate) a crack epidemic in cities? He's gonna skullfark the American economy for the average American for ~40 years and counting?

Sounds like a win for a grievance party stoking outrage and anger.

What balm and healing has been applied to the people suffering under a tumultuous economy? Bipartisan infrastructure victories that republicans can campaign on just as hard as democrats? No arrests for the coup attempt? 1200 dollar checks and an empty coffer of pandemic stimulus? Inflationary pricing of goods and materials?

What do democrats have to campaign on for 2022?

And in the infrastructure bill, he now has a big, bipartisan public-policy victory to ballyhoo. He could have another in coming weeks if fractious Democrats, and particularly progressives, come to understand that, in the end, you must count votes and pass what's possible, then consolidate your gains and soldier on.

Oh, ffs. Eabod, diaf, foad, etc.

Here's a lopsided but not-entirely-incorrect comparison:

Reagan ending the Cold War or at least the Cold War in Europe (tear down the Berlin wall)

Biden ending the war in Afghanistan.

There's something to how it could play with voters, if the Dems want it. It's a victory tinged by bitterness but still.

Talk about burying the lede:

FTA: Current estimates are that Gross Domestic Product will increase by 5.5 to 6 percent this year and 4 to 5 percent in 2022.

There are two ways to shrink the national debt: inflation and gdp growth

Give us four or five years of both at around 5% and you'll make a pretty good dent

Not saying 5% inflation is a good idea, just saying it will help the federal balance sheet (and state pension underfunding too)

Child poverty reduced by 40%.

Paid maternity leave

$300/month child tax credit

5-6% GDP growth

Unemployment at 4.6%

Rising wages

Now they need to raise the minimum wage to get the youngsters to turn out
