(The Spun)   If the BCS was still around today, here is what it would look like. Yeah, that team should be there. I don't know about that one   (thespun.com) divider line

Georgia and Alabama? No surprises there.

That shiatty team from Athens has only faced two real teams.  Strength of schedule was a major component of the BCS rankings, and most of their opponents have been smaller programs.  So they would be ranked, like, 15th if this was really using the BCS algorithm.

Funny how the two team playoff has Cincy #3 and the four team playoff has them #5.

Their closest approximation to the BCS.  Some of those formulas were proprietary and can't be replicated exactly.

They seemed to get the "Hate on the Big 10" algorithm correct.

If UGA doesn't win it this year, they never will.

And the SEC loving algorithm works fine.

I'd be ok with that.

Um...what? Do you not remember all the years Ohio State got in because they ran the table against a weak Big 10 slate only to get housed by an SEC school?

Because Pepperidge Farm remembers.

As a die hard Tech fan, I hope they don't, but so far it looks like they will.  If so, then that would be really good for the region, what with the Braves winning the World Series.

I hate the the playoff system and the BCS are based on how much money can be generated by the national title game.  If you went on record alone you would have Georgia, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, and UTSA.  And I would be good with that.

Georgia vs Oklahoma
Cincinnati vs UTSA

Colley track the "BCS-like" equivalent on his site.   The issue with the system is that it gives equal weight to the polls and the computer ratings.   Any system that has Cincy in the top-8 is a flawed system.   Only Sagarin and Massey are realistic enough to have CIncy below the top-8.   Everyone else, including the AP and coaches, have them in the top-4 which is ridiculous.

You mean like 2003-04, when LSU won the BCS Championship, but the voters picked USC instead? Or 2004-05, when an undefeated Auburn team was shut out of the BCS championship game so Southern Cal could skull-drag Oklahoma?

The "loving algorithm" is there, and it involves a C and an S, but E ain't the vowel you're looking for.

Yeah, USC got screwed over, not LSU.  LSU got the crystal trophy, they're the official champs from that year, that was them getting the break over the consensus #1.
