Good job Omar. Would be nice if he could get another super bowl ring. Although nothing beats the impotent rage of the fire Tomlin fans.

First, second, and third place are the only 3 coaches we've had since I was 13. In 1969.

Tomlin gets a bad rap too often but I wish someone with clock skills would show up.

I had no real rooting interest in either team last night, but I admit, I laughed my ass off when the ref hip-checked the Bears defensive end and then threw a flag for taunting.  I had to rewind to make sure that wasn't James Harden.

1 more win, same Superb Owl record, in half a season less than Cowher.

Tomlin, 49, trails only New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick in wins and winning percentage since Tomlin was hired in 2007. Tomlin's .649 winning percentage is ninth-best in league history among those who coached at least 100 games. Only three coaches reached 150 victories faster than Tomlin - Don Shula, George Halas and Curly Lambeau.

but he's a crap coach and should be fired, right?

He's no Sam Rutigliano, that's for sure.  Good old "Gambling Sam" knew how to win games.

Tbf, Steeler fans wanted Cowher fired all the time too. I can't wait till the fanbase has to deal with a coach that's any less than HoF quality. They may burn down Heinz Field

He's good (i did a big breakdown a few months ago comparing sean payton bill cowher and tomlin and all 3 are virtually identical in wins super bowls division titles and playoff appearances)... And then he does stuff like think it's a good idea to have their freaking kicker attempt to become a qb with a 3-3 tie goin on.  Sometimes i wonder at the random dumbass decisions he makes.  He also acquiesces far too often to bad Ben decisions.

Hopefully we can draft a good qb next year.  Ben is PAINFULLY bad.  Painfully.  The fact that we are in the thick of the playoff hunt is nothing short of a miracle.

7 of his 8 playoff wins came over 3 seasons. 9 total playoff appearances. He has put up 0 wins in 5 of those trips. He is good in the regular season, but tends to disappear in the post season.

I get that people confuse him with Omar Epps... but to confuse him with James Franklin seems a bit insincere.

Except for the Super Bowl win and another appearance he tends to disappear in the playoffs. Yeah I know he hasn't been good lately, but Belichick went almost a decade between Super Bowl wins with the best QB ever. It's really hard to win in the playoffs

There has to be atleast 28 teams that would take Tomlin in a heartbeat if he left.

I do have to wonder how long Tomlin will want to keep coaching. I'm sure that he wants that second Super Bowl ring, just to prove the detractors that say "he won his ring with Cowher's team" wrong.  but Ben's obviously done after this season, and wondering if Tomlin will stay through whatever rebuild is coming. for as long as he's been HC, he hasn't developed a young QB at all. Mason Rudolph isn't a starter in the NFL, Haskins has the physical qualities to play the position but still hasn't learned the pro game yet, and Dobbs is a smart kid collecting a paycheck until he decides to hang it up and go build rockets. I don't know if Tomlin wants to go through that or even if the team wants him to stay around through that. when I heard the "Tomlin to USC" chatter, I wondered if they were started by a random blogger, someone close to the USC program, or from Tomlin's people to get the Steelers to commit to him for the next few seasons.

can't see him going to USC or to any college program though. between the recruiting and keeping the alumni donors happy along with the politics that come with the job, all while working your tail off on the on field product at the same time - it has to be a pretty miserable job. when Tomlin does step away, I could see him trying the broadcasting route like Cowher did, or write a book and go out on the speech circuit, or even move up into the front office for either a team or the league itself.

but all in all - getting 150 wins in the NFL all with one team is a pretty amazing achievement. and to never have a losing season is even more remarkable. anytime I hear someone rag on Tomlin - even when he deserves it like calling that fake kick last week - I wonder what it's like to be a Jets or a Jags fan when they say to themselves "wait - who's our head coach this week?"

/and I don't consider myself a big college fan but I do watch Penn State when they play. and if USC really wants James Franklin - they can have him. I just don't see them winning a national championship with him

Tomlin got really pissed off when he was asked about those college rumors, I don't see why he'd want to leave possibly the sweetest coaching gig in sports

I think they should keep Tomlin, but I think the argument is that he seems to have peaked a while back and trending in the wrong direction.

But that's sports.  They shouldn't get rid of him.
