They were also hand built by Darth Vader, despite other droids looking just like them.

There's some ILM/Lucasfilm internal footage of Ewan as Obi-Wan standing around in Coruscant, pulling out a ciggie, and lighting it off his lightsaber. Clearly he didn't listen to his droids.

How do conservatives deal with this? Do they root for the Nazis in films? Are they sad when the obvious bad guys don't win?

I'm guessing they either don't watch or enjoy movies, or they somehow manage to completely miss the point of basically every film ever.

My mum was born in 1951. Contracted it in 1953 (vaccine arrived in 1955). Three months in iron lung, 18 in hospital, 67 years and counting on brace, wheelchair, or crutches.

We obviously never missed a vaccine, even when I actually got mild polio from it (confirmed by doctor).

Some people are sufficiently stupid and will only do something if a celebrity tells them. For no other reason than that. It's how influencers work. It's easier and cheaper than actually providing good schools and educating people.

The evil government people in ET wore protective gear which is proof of the early deep state taking root in the media to indoctrinate our children into being gay frogs and stealing their guns.

And ET was literally an illegal alien!!!

We're supposed to sympathize with THAT???!!!

Y'all realize this means absolutely nothing, not a single whit to the people complaint about big bird right?

You think they're worried about being hypocrites? Logically consistent? That they're even arguing in good faith?

They don't give a shiat and if you think dredging up some ancient POS PSA is a "win" you haven't been paying attention.

The point of the bleating and fury is to perform for their followers and rile them up. They all know it's in bad faith. It pleases them greatly that they can run their mouths on and on and then we scurry around desperately trying to appease them with some sort of fact or proof. They already won. They shiat all over big bird.

The performance is an end unto itself. It shows the power of being deeply unserious and yet still covered by the media. They can do whatever rude idiotic thing enters their head and still be treated as a political force.

This is flexing power. The rubes LOVE IT. They LOVE these pointless little culture war scuffles because it shows that conservatives can be huge inconsistent assholes all the time and the system accommodates them. That's an example of power.

Republicans are human, same as the rest of us, with one small detail. They HATE anything that challenges them.

Star Trek is the same as wars. Big lasers. Space battles. Everyone listens to the Alpha white dude who fixes everything. A Utopian society is basically America*! All the other facets of American society are turned into stereotypes of species, clearly not human. It's entertainment.

Bring up the fact that the FAKE t.v. show is an allegory of REAL people and REAL life, and they get angry.

*America so far as none of the minorities are complaining about things like "rights" or "discrimination on the t.v.

At least this will be an easier sell to the next generation, since in mich the way everyone older than dirt in this thread has an "elder relative with polio" story, a proportion of people born after 2000 that rounds to 100% now have an "older relative that didn't get vaccinated and literally died" story.

So the ten people who survive the progressive effects of what we've done to the climate in the 2050s will be healthy enough to successfully scavenge things from the ruins of the abandoned cities, at least.
