Infrastructure vote today followed by a procedural vote on Build Back Better.

She's said that before and it hasn't happened because it didn't have the votes. Nothing has changed between then and now and the progressives' stance is the same. There won't be a vote today unless the progressives completely cave and it looks like that isn't happening.

WHAT?!?!? Are you telling me the party that is structurally disadvantaged in our system by design and running the government on a margin that's largely just a majority on paper is having trouble finding the votes?

Gosh, don't they always have trouble with that? It's almost like our system was designed from the start by a bunch of rich white guys who were scared of the power of a voting populace but cloaked their efforts in a bunch of freedom talk and superficial trappings to pretend most of them gave any shiats about the people and weren't just carving out more money and power for themselves. So we have a system designed to be tilted against people who are actually trying to give the voters what is popular, and instead let the wealthy game the system and get what they want instead every single year after year after year.

Remember when the infrastructure bill was "passed" in August and everyone here was jumping for joy?
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/10/us/politics/infrastructure-bill-passes.html

Then a vote was supposed to happen in September:
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pelosi-says-1-trillion-us-infrastructure-bill-will-pass-this-week-2021-09-26/

Then a vote was supposed to happen in October, Pelosi set an October 31 deadline:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/oct/02/pelosi-new-infrastructure-bill-deadline-31-october-biden-frustration

Have Biden gitmo the republicans, and tell the govoners of the states with gitmoed republicans to appoint an acceptable replacement.  And keep gitmoing people who don't get with the program.  If the governor won't appoint an acceptable replacement, gitmo the governor.

Problem solved.

I didn't like the way Jayapals interviews were going the other day. It looks like she wanted to cave.
I hope she doesn't and the progressives block the corporate hand out. That thing should never get a vote until the people get a good bill and I'm not talking about a Manchin gutted bill either. Politics is supposed to be if you give a little ,you will get a little. The wealthy have had a monopoly on hand outs from our politicians for so long that it is making them angry someone else might benefit from something.

Can you really call what's happening "balancing the demands from progressives and moderates"? From here it looks like "killing everything that pisses off the centrists' rich donors, progressives be damned."

Have the centrists ever negotiated with the progressives?

2021-11-05 5:35:55 PM
Pelosi is calling the progressive caucus' bluff on BIF with a vote later today/tonight, expecting them to fold and pass it in order to bring it to Biden for a signature this weekend. The CBO bullshiat that the half dozen of weak-willed "moderate" dems is just a last CYA move by them fearing how the cost will play in their districts. BBB will pass  the House after the BS CBO report in a couple of weeks.

Only my Dems could fark up a winning day of a strong & better than expected jobs report.

The "moderates" that control the DNC know exactly what they are doing. Their plan is simple, to screw around and delay any bill that would make progressives look good or gain power in the party. They'd rather have Republicans control all branches of the government than cede any power to the progressive wing of the party. There's a reason that Carville came out crying about how wokeness cost them the election. It's much easier to blame the progressives for your screwups instead of actually passing legislation that is heavily favored by Democrat voters and even a majority of Republicans think is a good idea.

The problem is doing that makes progressives look like they have the answers and are more fit to govern. It's simple, there will be no infrastructure bill that doesn't benefit the rich more than the middle class.

TLDR: The infrastructure bill is dead and it was the corporate Democrats that control the DNC that killed it to screw over the progressives.

I'd rather have Republicans than Cinema and Manchinian. There's no difference anyway.

2021-11-05 5:38:27 PM
There's a reason why this same scenario seems to keep playing out over and over again - and it's not because Democrats WANT to be caught with their nuts in a vice every time they ostensibly have control.

Our country's system is designed to produce these outcomes, and keep the balance of power tilted in favor of minority rule.

2021-11-05 5:40:47 PM
Amazing how it's all 100% on the Democrats to do, not even the right thing, but literally anything.

And the entirety of the media is completely focused on this and completely ignores the fact that every single farking GQPer "legislator" has abandoned even the faintest pretense of even pretending to do their job.

2021-11-05 5:41:09 PM
I've been repeatedly told Pelosi and Schumer should put everything up for vote, so there can be a public record, and boy howdy that'll show Manchin and Sinema who's boss.  Now they can't do that?  What's going on?

If Biden does the hard thing and starts gitmoing the enemy, we might be able to save our democracy.  Maybe send in the military or nukes to some of the trump strongholds.

It may be distasteful, but we are on the precipice of darkness.  A thousand years of trump Nazis destroying the earth and humanity.  Demon kind roaming the streets raping and killing us all.  Only the cleansing light of atomic fusion weapons can save us from the darkness.
