Prior to 1980, you could afford food and shelter on a very modest income.  Reagan put an end to that.

Luse: I for one am very surprised that McDonald's original menu included hamburgers, cheeseburgers, coca-cola and shakes. Who could have imagined such a thing?!

Especially considering the incredible amount of research and media on the subject. What's next, are they going to tell us about some obscure milkshake mixer salesman? I know it's The Sun, but good grief.

JuicePats: pdieten: I remember the orange drink they used to have when I was a kid. I liked it. Then when I was older that went away and replaced with Hi-C, and then that went away and was replaced by nothing because people suck.

The food was cheap but think about what you got. The hamburger was the same 10-to-a-pound patty on the bun that costs maybe a dollar now, an order of fries was today's small, and the soda was 8 ounces. And that was considered a good sized lunch in 1955. If we still ate like that now, obesity wouldn't be a thing.

Hi-C has returned

I was not aware of that. Thank you
