I wonder if they've thought about putting a liberal R into that primary and giving themselves a huge fark you to everyone involved?

Manchin's home county in northern West Virginia, Amber Gabor allowed that some time off would have come in handy when one of her kids - ages 2, 7 and 9, with another one expected in a couple of weeks - had to stay home for two weeks after a coronavirus case at his school. But 12 weeks of paid leave sounded excessive to her.
"I don't see why you would need all that at one time, unless it was a maternity type of leave. But most (work) places offer that anyway," said Gabor, who works from home doing customer service for a power company.

Ohhh what a stupid f*ck.

Supporters of a decades-old proposal to let workers take time off for medical needs including childbirth, surgeries and end-of-life care are dealing with another disappointment in Manchin's home of West Virginia, a poor state with one of the nation's oldest populations.

It wasn't snark. Not intended to be funny or insulting. It's just the truth.

Those two (both of whom I voted for, by the way), and the wing of the party they represent, are the closest thing to liberal Republicans we'll ever see.

They're both pretty liberal on social issues, but still plutocratic (a la Republicanism) on issues of economics and governance.

He's also had no problem voting for adding to the bloated, amorphous mass of waste and corruption that is the defense budget...pretty much every time it's come up while he's been in office.

Manchin is a farking lying, Koch-snorting (epithet adjusted for the proper pronunciation of 'Koch') hypocrite, and I hope his eventual primary opponent lets West Virginians know just what he thinks of them, given their overwhelming support for shiat he's gotten canned.

Hell at least Biden moved steps left on some issues, even his former pet (business friendly) issues. Certainly compared to the Thomas SC nomination era.... And if anything, he's (minus the idea that Republicans aren't terrorists, which he stoll believes) gone further left in the White House.

Hillary couldn't even be bothered to run on her 1990s health care platform because she'd drifted right. And people wonder why she lost.

Most West Virginians voted for Manchin, and a remarkably high percentage support the Democratic package as it was initially presented.  They may vote (R) in the national election, because they do, but that was Byrd's home state.

They wanted and needed the things Manchin promised, and as dumb as you may think they are, all this really means is that next time they'll be disillusioned enough to vote for some jawless cretin on the Republican side, because the Democrats finally abandoned them.

Now, this is really weird, because I know you're not this stupid, but they already vote for jawless cretins, overwhelmingly.

The Democrats didn't "abandon" West Virginia. West Virginia told them to fark off.

Don't feel bad about it. Everyone has their role to play.
