The 62-year-old man who asked that only his first name be published out of fear of backlash from COVID-19 deniers and anti-vaxxers

Regardless of what side of any issue you're on, if you're one of the people who sees someone say/do something they don't like and then sends threats to that person, you're the bad guy, and you're in the wrong.  Doesn't matter what "the truth" is; it doesn't matter what "reality" actually is; doesn't matter what side started it; you're always in the wrong.

/And so help me I will burn your house down if you so much as send a single threat again.

Welcome to the information age: Where every stupid mouth-breather can find other like-minded people to say that the evil things they do are good.

Most folk'll never lose a toe. Then again, some folk'll.

As he left the ICU, U of A Hospital staff gave him a special send-off.

Yeah, the bill.

Difficulty: not the USA.

You would spend more buying a can of soda from a vending machine than he will on his hospital bill, what with Canada's "people's health is a little more important than insurance companies' quarterly earnings" approach to medicine.

Laffs for the small-point-font statement.

At that point, it seems like it would be more of a hassle to have two toes rather than zero.

Right on.  I don't know how I missed that.  I think my mind went from 10-month hospital stay to, "your kids will still be paying that off when their your age".

The is so ruff. I hope he recovers more. That's the scary part though. We don't know what effects will show up down the line.

I wish the shot was 100% effective, but if it's even isn't, it still helps, along with masks, staying 6ft apart and limiting your time with other people. If you follow all of this, you have a very good chance that you will stay healthy. Another benefit, you will be at less risk of getting the Flu. I am glad that I got the shots and I am getting my Flu shot next week.

You don't need to.

He's from Alberta.

I'm a lefty liberal in Alberta and I'd still deserve it if I got COVID

That's how bad this place has gotten.

Do I smart? Do I laugh? Is there a sad button? Do I just keep telling people "yes, I'm from Canada, but I'm from Newfoundland" because it's less embarrassing?

This too shall.pass...

Weren't ECMO machines one of the miracle treatments that anti-vaxxers were looking into as an alternative to getting the shot?

I have a friend who lost toes on one foot due to a non-covid cardiac event. He now has to have his shoes specially made. And he had to learn to walk all over again.

That's the problem in Canada. We're footing the bill (see what I did there?) for idiots like this. Then there's this moron
