A quick gis for exorcist doctor got me this bit of trivia:
Paul Bateson (born August 24, 1940) is an American convicted murderer and former radiographer. He appeared as a radiological technologist in a scene from the 1973 horror film The Exorcist, which was inspired when the film's director, William Friedkin, watched him perform a cerebral angiography the previous year.

The Church avoids playing pretend when it risks lightening the collection plate.

American Evangelicals not included.

OR they're hoarding God's Love for themselves.  After all, surviving a pandemic without pagan witchcraft is one of the surest signs that you're Jesus's favorite special person.  It's time the Vatican socialize their exorcisms for the good of the flock.

Interesting that a church that once said "everything bad is demons" is now saying it's not demons.

So anyway "Agnes" is a pretty neat twist on the "possessed girl/exorcism" genre. I recommend it if you get a chance to see it.

"We were told under no circumstance should we perform the rite on a COVID patient."

Don't listen to them! They're trying to hide the true word of God from you! True Christians are cured by the blood of Jesus!

My kids went to catholic school (daughter is still in a Jesuit university) so I was on the local email list.  Soon after the vaccines received emergency authorization I was pleasantly surprised to get an email from the bishop bluntly telling everybody to STFU and get the shot

The Catholic Church very rarely goes against science.

Even if they are have exorcists, you have to jump many hoops to get one to visit you. Even then, it's because the Church undertand that most demonic possessions are psychosomatic, and that most people fill instantly feel better once they believe they've been exorcised.

And scientists once said diseases were caused by imbalanced humors, blood didn't circulate, there were four elements, it was our duty to sterilize or kill the genetically inferior, rest cure fixed hysteria, and children did better without primitive, inefficient maternal "care". Women who aren't happy with their assigned roles and Negroes who are angry about racial injustice are incurable schizophrenics. The last four went well into the 20th century. The last one still has currency in the world of psychiatry
