You jail him late on Friday with the next available court day on Monday.

I have a strong suspicion as to why the lawyer is abandoning his client.

Absent a payment issue, it usually happens when the client plans to do something illegal, including perjury.

This means that the client is either going to not show or perjure himself. That's my educated guess.

Congressional investigators have long sought Clark's testimony. And several months ago, Trump himself sent a letter to Clark and other former top DOJ officials saying he would not move to block them from participating in congressional inquiries related to his final weeks in office.

What's up with that?  Trump went a little bonkers over Bannon, Meadows, et. al. possibly having to testify, but he didn't for Clark?   Does Trump think Clark can't hurt him, or did Trump and his lawyers screw up, or what?  It's not jenius strategery, I think we can all be sure.

I would say that trump probably has some dirt or blackmail on him. That's likely the only way he could be so confident

Clark has drawn notoriety for his role in the final days of the Trump administration. He pushed for other senior DOJ officials to greenlight a letter falsely claiming the FBI found serious evidence of voter fraud in multiple states. At one point, Trump also discussed firing his acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen and replacing him with Clark. When the rest of the department's top leadership learned of the plan, they told Trump in a White House meeting that they would all quit if the president followed through on it.

"Attempted Second Saturday Night Massacre? Now honestly what is that? Robert Bork nearly got a Supreme Court seat for the first one, and the Federalist Society thinks it was stolen from him because he earned it that day!"

That's what the right-wing excels at, creating shiatshows no one is in anyway willing to actually deal with anymore. When was the last time some facist farkwad pulled this kinda shiat and got the ACTUAL full force of the law come down on them?

Some homeless dude only barely escaped 7 years  in prison over 38 cents, yet  actual insurrectionists trying to overthrow the farking government and the ones actually making it to jail only get months. farking months.

Anyone having actual faith in the US justice system when it comes to the right-wing is deluded or just desperatly trying to keep sane by completely denying realty for a bit longer.

I've lurked here silently for nearly 20 years but you guys are so edgy I just couldn't take it anymore. I'll assume you do more than just flex your wit on the comment threads and are actually out there registering voters, writing and calling your congressmen, working phone banks to ensure democratic voters show up to vote and doing whatever else can be done to make sure people are held accountable. Right?

Could be Trump has zero ability to block them and knows it, so by sending the letter he gets to pretend he's "letting" them. It's better for his ego than a legal fight he'd lose anyways.

Rapmaster2000: But I never got my $2,000 check.

Maybe he also dropped $50k into that failed Trump SPAC, and #45 promised to repay him in two weeks if he bails on Congress.
It's a safe bet, congress has no stomach for enforcing the law.  We have people arrested for beating cops into the hospital from January 6th getting home confinement and short prison sentences.if any at all.  If you punch a cop, scream at them, and rip the badge off their uniform as a souvenir I would expect to be beaten to an inch of my life by other police and sentenced to 10 years at a minimum and I'm white.
They are setting a terrible precedent.  Those captured on video beating cops need to go away for 20 years at least and fined into bankruptcy as an example.

This has all the signs of a performative conservative committee tantrum.

It's the next logical step after no repercussions for ignoring congress.  Telling them to there face to fark off.  He'll be a conservative hero.

Hmmm...

So, is this due to a lawyer Trump foisted on him leading him down a path to prison, and he wants no part of that....

Or..

Is he maintaining the Big Lie bullshiat and his lawyer said fark you?

My guess is the first scenario, otherwise we wouldn't be hearing of it other than the filing of a motion by them to separate.
