Those are great in Canada. In Florida the methheads would steal all the stuff in under 4 minutes. They have a cinder block, they don't need an app go get inside.

They'd still bring a gun and shoot something, a small fruit salad container probably.

Jealous of its intellectual capacity, no doubt.

This would have saved so much embarrassment and angst buying condoms & porno mags way back in my teenage years.
Of course there were no smart phones or interwab back then - kinda mind-blowing thinking what a different world it was.

Cool, it's like a cashless, walk-in vending machine.

I do like businesses that require using an app on smartphones, it simplifies my choices by eliminating them from consideration.  I also "like" restaurants that have QR "menus".  I just pull out my flip phone and either they bring me a paper menu or I leave.

After 38 years in IT on the bleeding edge of technology, I only use what I need.

Each of these stores represents fewer minimum wage jobs.  Yay.

On the bright side, each of these stores represents a step closer to a universal basic income. The more folks that are unemployed and cannot be employed because there are more people than there are jobs, the more likely we are to finally move towards a UBI.

We won't change voluntarily, despite seeing the writing on the wall for the last two decades. If it takes precipitating the emergency to spur change, so be it.

And, a reminder that, as of yet, they don't stock themselves. Or maintain themselves.

Universal basic income will never happen, not in my lifetime, not in your lifetime, not ever.

I wonder if the number of people holding up gas stations and corner stores has gone down since people started using cash less and cards more.

"Give me all your cash!"

"Well... I've got a $50 float, and some old guy paid cash for a newspaper just now. How's that?"
