You know who else frowned upon upside-down pineapples?

I'm kinda curious how it's the Russians that decided "let's feed pineapple compost to fish"

REAL pineapple on pizza lovers eat the whole pineapple. Cut the whole pineapple into slices. Kinda like not skinning cucumbers first.
:)

Pineapple skin makes tepache which is delicious, fizzy and one of the healthier agua frescas out there.

Bromelain is used in meat tenderizer. It breaks down proteins and in a living body triggers an immune response. If your body healed poorly and left scars, rubbing fresh pineapple on a scar can break down the scar and give your body another chance to rebuild it better, looking more like the original you.

or how Kiwis eat kiwis without peeling them. tried it and don't mind it, but not when the skin is too thick - ditto cucumbers.

or how my friend from Barcelona/Venezuela makes lemonade by chucking whole lemons and limes into the blender, bones and all. a little too bitter to my taste, but then again she most always ends up mixing it with wine and vodak. which covers any litany of sins.

/then again, I like eating watermelon rinds (I mean, not the skin - unless you're pickling them too - but still)

olrasputin: Get back to me when they find a diet to boost tilapia's flavor.

ugh, or at least to get better consistency! buying frozen, same brand, same batch#, ostensible same source - one bag will taste perfectly clean, but the next packet may have that weird "muddy" taste tilapia sometimes gets. in any case, I always fall back on: smashed garlic, shredded ginger, citrus, miso paste (or lately doenjang. or, mmm, ssamjang) - and sometimes even fish sauce too, lol. and always with the 7spice, altho' I guess 5spice could actually work here?

also-also, sorries I missed the Monday thread, ass-uming it was yours :-( seemed fun and my bigmouth would have had plenty to say ;-) I'll be on a train most of 11/1, but should have wifi - d'nno if you roped in some fool for next week or feel like doing another one yourself?

/again, I am not in control of that thing, nor do I want to be, is just good fun that I hope continues

Not bad ideas at injecting some kind of flavor. I usually just fall back on eating "literally any other kind of fish". Usually trout, salmon, catfish, or mackerel.

I can probably hork up another topic or two. I'm sure it's just first come, first serve. Or down to whichever amuses the mod most/gets the most TF traffic before a green.

Oh, you mean giving a fish vitamins could make them more resistant to disease? That's something you'd have to scale, I guess.
