Which one of them doesn't want the kids to learn?  He has my vote.  I understand you can stop at any WaWa and vote as much as you like.

Stupid smart kids.  Think they know stuff.

Will the early votes be countered? Or will they be rerouted to the Dead Letter Office in Boise, ID, via DeJoy's USPOS?

Those of us with two brain cells already dread 2022. Almost zero chance Republicans don't take both houses of Congress. We already know the outcome, it's the painful wall to wall political advertising to low information voters that we really dread.

Not that big a story, as we didn't have early voting back then as Republicans were in charge and didn't allow it. You couldn't vote early in 2017 unless you used an absentee ballot. Lots of people did that and lied to qualify. I might be one of them.

sniderman: Will the early votes be countered? Or will they be rerouted to the Dead Letter Office in Boise, ID, via DeJoy's USPOS?

Article said "ballots submitted" so I'm guessing they've already been received by BOEs across VA.  That said, there's still plenty of time for farkery from the USPS if Dejoy tries to slow walk ballots.  The Va Dems have already sued as they're alleging this is exactly what is happening.  .

55% of early voters so far are likely Democrats, according to TargetSmart's models, compared to 30% likely Republicans.

Because of the percentages reporting this at all is benefit to republicans as it can be used in last minute get out the vote efforts.

The mail in ballots will only be counted after the in-person voting is finished. This gives the impression that a huge amount of 'mystery votes' have been submitted all at once to swing the election. This is by design to undermine the legitimacy of the voting process and allow for the erosion of democracy.

2021-10-27 8:40:10 AM
So... increased early voting participation to the tune of 300% likely bodes well for VA Dems?

Any sticking points?

If the D's lose it's all their own fault for running McAuliffe again. Nobody wants that guy again. Zero enthusiasm to go vote for the same dude who was already governor once and did OK but forgettable.

JFC, it really is nothing more than a ballgame to you people is it?  Larry Hogan is by most measures a reasonable person that tries to do what is best for the majority of his people.  Youngkin is a frothing-at-the-mouth Trump discipline who seemingly cares only about big business and the glorification of his own ego.

So, just because for you Republicans=good, Democrats=bad, don't expect me to have the same inverse logic.  Some of us believe in nuance and critical thinking.

Now now, it's never the Democrat's fault for running lousy candidates. It's the voters' fault for not giving the votes they owe the candidate.

Nope.

On April 12, 2020, Governor Ralph Northam (D) signed HB1/SB111 into law, establishing no-excuse early voting 45 days prior to an election. The legislation took effect in the November 3, 2020 election. On March 19, 2021, Northam signed HB1968 into law, which allowed local election officials to offer early voting on Sundays.[4][13]

The voters picked McAuliffe in the primary. The other Democratic primary candidates were two backbenchers from the legislature, the disgraced lt. governor, and a commie.

You needed a reason to vote early beforehand, and most of those required justification aside from disability. I did in-person absentee voting weeks before the 2016 and 2017 elections and just waved my VA card at them. It is indeed much easier now, even if they moved the Hampton registrar's office to a locked filing cabinet in a disused lavatory with a sign saying "beware of leopard".

The only way to document that votes are being stolen is for Republicans to vote for Trump as a write-in and see if they are reported in the totals.

This isn't true in VA anymore. I voted early in-person in the 2020 election and my wife has already voted in this one.

Yes, that was one of the first things that happened when the state legislature went full blue. I'm mostly just griping that they moved my city's registrar office to a much less convenient place.

In California, typically there are 5 to 10 propositions in each major election.  Needless to say, every single (non-National) ad at any hour the month before the election is a political ad, mostly for the propositions.
