"It's said, 'there are no words' because it's impossible to express shock and heartache of such a tragic accident," she wrote.

If only she knew someone in the entertainment industry who could demonstrate how people express shock and heartache at tragic accidents. Over and over again if necessary until the take is just right.

Who cares?

I mean, was there some expectation that the wife of the criminally negligent manslaughter guy would say something other than "I am sympathetic to the victim of my husband's negligent manslaughter, while admitting no culpability on his part"?

Because if her statement had been anything else maybe this would have been news, in the form of her firing the lawyer that allowed her to say anything else.

IDK, when two guys are fooling around and one points a gun he thinks is empty at the other and pulls the trigger "as a joke" and it turns out it wasn't empty, what's the normal charge? Whatever that is.

Yes, He pointed a gun at some one and pulled the trigger. He is ultimately responsible to insure that the weapon is not loaded.

Involuntary manslaughter is the killing of a human being without intent of doing so, either expressed or implied. It is distinguished from voluntary manslaughter by the absence of intention. It is normally divided into two categories, constructive manslaughter and criminally negligent manslaughter, both of which involve criminal liability.

Acting and using props works a bit differently. The reason why they have firearms experts (armorers) and exhaustive OSHA regulations (that were completely ignored on this set), is so that actors can break normal common sense gun rules. Of course care should be taken by the actor, and pointing even a cold working gun in a direction that may hit someone needs to be avoided when possible. But the safety rules that they follow is so they can (normally) use the gun in an acting performance... and that CAN (sometimes) mean doing ordinarily unsafe things.

Think of all the gun props that you've seen in movies held against someone's head, or put into the actors mouth, or waved around carelessly for comic effect.

You farking idiot. I'm not a Baldwin fan but if you have any idea about movie productions it might occur to you that guns are used quite a lot on them. so this is the narrative of the morans now?

Baldwin was handed a gun, and informed it was "cold". The set employs an armorer specifically to provide realistic props and insure safety on the set. Live rounds should not EVER be on the set, and that's why so much attention is being thrown on the Assistant Director (who had a history, and members of the production actually quit earlier in the day in protest to incidents on set) and the armorer (who apparently did not have the knowledge or experience to do her job).

It was a tragic accident, and I don't know why Fark is making a joke out of this.

I guarantee most of these people yelling "criminal negligence" are gun nuts looking to payback a "crazy lib" for threatening their sacred possession of a deadly weapon. Idiots. There wouldn't be a single loaded gun on that set if it weren't for a few "gun nuts" who needed to bring live rounds and hot weapons on the set of a movie for "authenticity" or whatever their excuse was.

While I get the urge to dislike Baldwin for other reasons, it takes a pretty soulless asshole to use this tragedy as a way to pile on. Disgusting, but that's the idiocy that decades of 2A divisiveness, driven by the republicans has brought us.

It's not that. It is because every news story is an opportunity for Farkers to prove how morally superior they are. They come on fark to stroke their moralistic wangs.

At most you can argue that Baldwin was a producer and therefore had influence over the hiring of the armorer. It sounds like they hired a guy off of Facebook Marketplace. Those who are shiatting on him for breaking gun safety rules have never seen a movie that involves guns.

I think the real problem is the basic safety protocols are clearly obvious and that set followed none of them, had accidents, and kept right on ignoring basic safety protocols.  It doesn't take an experienced Hollywood weapon master to know you don't leave weapons unattended so they can be used for after-hours target practice, not re-check them when they've been out of your care, and then hand one to an actor telling them it's perfectly safe.

Then there's the obvious part where there's no justification for pointing a functioning weapon at a human being - angles can be faked except for 'directly at the camera', in which case you can either operate the camera remotely or have a shield in place.  And the reason you always treat a functioning weapon as loaded is because... sometimes they turn out to have been loaded (also simply to have the habit so you're less likely to slip up).

That's not 'firearms experience' or 'extensive industry experience', that's basic common sense if you have any familiarity with weapons at all.

What we've really had on Fark is a bunch of gun fetishists and Baldwin-hating Trumpies pushing both sides of an argument that only exists because they're both a bunch of farking lunatics.
