Misread 'BCC' as 'BBC' and was feverishly, gleefully, looking for that feature of my own email.

99.99999% of the problem is that BCC is hidden by default in Outlook.

IRCC has been writing to the people in question to apologize

Apologize? How about warn and evacuate? The LEAST they could do!
"Uh, sorry about putting a target on you and your loved ones back. Good luck with that!"

I'm not shocked that the Canadians would apologize.

Lol. I once had a prof call the help desk and ask 'how do I get the email back I just sent? It had confidential information and I sent it to all the students.'

Suggesting they build a time machine was apparently not a useful nor correct response.

The Taliban controls the country, how exactly are they supposed to evacuate them?

Afgan borders are just about impossible to totally seal off. Intrusion/evacuation an ongoing constant.

The Taliban agreed to not misuse data leaks? I wasn't aware of that.

What, in negotiations in Doha, some beard in a turban said "Hey, can we misuse data leaks?" and the other side said "No!" and the turban nodded "Okay, okay. We won't bring it up again"?

Are you suggesting they send people into a hostile country to extract these people?

Afghan privacy against the Taliban is of serious concern here. There has even been a TED Talk on it:

Yes. Yes I am. They put their lives on the line for Canada and Canada just farked them, maybe to death. We're moving in and out at will, I'm sure Canada has CIA?
/Seal team strike forces as well. You break it, you buy it. Do you REALLY think that only Afganis are in the country now? New to this whole Middle East chess game?

Canada et al accidentally CC'd the Taliban with a list of Afghanis who worked for them which will now become a list of people to look for and harass and/or imprison or worse?

Maybe wanna think about expediting the process of getting them out.

Just a thought.

CSIS is nothing like the CIA.  You're making this sound much easier than it actually is.  It's not easy to extract people from hostile countries, especially not if it's an operation authorized by another country.

I never said it would be easy, I said it would be fair and just. Canada farked up and people will die because of it.  Efforts shoild be made to save them. If they were Canadian citizens trapped and outed, there would already be a strike force on the way, if not already there.

In what world do you think Canada would launch an invasion of Afghanistan?  Canada is doing what it can, but they aren't going to invade another country or send in a strike force.

Not suggesting either. Extraction behind enemy lines are undercover black ops. If Canada/UK aren't prepared or willing to protect their local contacts and intelligence gatherers then they have no right seeking them out and recruiting them in the first place. They used these people, they screwed up and outed them and the blood of these people and their families is on Canadian/UK hands. The same goes for U.S. or any other country that endangers the lives of their local contacts when they pull their armies (and protections) and expose them to murderous regimes that are now in control. It's why we (the U.S.) lifted and brought over the Hmong people from Cambodia when we pulled out, not to mention all the South Vietnamese we relocated over here.
It's called humanitarion decency.
