A beer bread recipe with more than 5 ingredients?

Do these people not understand the point of beer bread?

Yeah. The recipe does look good, but beer bread is what I make when I don't feel like fussing around.

And hey, I just bought a 6-pack of Roadsmary's Baby...

FFS...

3 c self-rising flour, 0.5 c sugar, 12 oz. beer, 2 tbsp melted butter. Combine flour, sugar, & beer; bake in loaf pan for 50-60 min. @ 375; brush melted butter on loaf 3-5 min. before loaf finishes baking.

That's it. That's beer bread. Anything beyond that is confusion or sophistry.

For folks who don't have self-rising flour, mix 1 c all-purpose flour, 1.5 tsp baking powder, and 0.25 tsp salt to get 1 c self-rising flour.

You melt butter?

I don't have time for that.   Oil is fine.   And I don't bother brushing any on, either.

I think I use more oil total, though.  (1/4c?  Don't have the recipe in front of me)

ooh! lmk what you think! one of our usual locales had it on draft, and... tbh wasn't my favorite, but I can totally see being used in the kitchen?

and, much respect to TFA for

they whine, and I send everyone to their rooms without dinner. (Which is more beer bread.)

I've never tried it. But I shy away from baking.

But this sounds simple enough I can't fark it up.

Can I put the beer cheese on the beer bread?

Beer bread is about as easy as the cornbread kit from Jiffy.  It's dead simple.

When I was stationed in Antigua, TWI, my boss (who didn't drink) would 'borrow' two cans of beer from me and make two loafs of beer bread (one for me). She generally put cheddar cheese in it.

I wouldn't, but toasted beer bread makes excellent Welsh rabbit.

Works for me - beer bread is for folks with beer, not leisure time.
