Darth Funjamin: Did they push it off a cliff?

The engine was optional?

Let Hammond drive.

Yes, but doesn't that void the warranty?

A buddy and I went for a ride with the owner in a 9 second Evo.  It was at that time that I discovered that there is such a thing as too GD holy-shiatballz fast.

Looks like he struggles to keep it straight in the start of the run.

This is something about car culture I don't get.

They seem to take this kind of thing much more seriously than a YouTube chef making a 17-pound meatball.

Anything can be used as tissue if you're brave enough...

Sure but how does it fare against a 70s Chevy Vega with a 350 engine and turbo 400 trans? Asking for the hessian behind the arcade smoking cigarettes and pushing his finger in your face while he talks about his new girlfriend.

Jaloponik screwed up a bit.  The GTI out of the box had over 200hp.

At TMP, these cars run 14.2 without mods.

They are similar to Skyline GTR's of that era out of the box, minus 70 hp, but also minus 600lbs.

1500hp will get you some serious torque steer

You'd think if they went through the trouble of sticking 1500hp in the thing, they'd also shove a drivetrain  through the car and power the back wheels (presumably easier to find such a transmission that takes 1500hp as well).  Perhaps there was simply no way to fit the rotated engine in the bay.

That or the thing was half-assed enough that it was only ever expected to do a few passes for show with terribly slow starts (for 1500hp and low weight).  But jalopnik wouldn't bother with such a thing, would it?

Well if it was a pulsar GTiR to start with?

I remember being so disappointed with the GTiR with its 4wd system and the like.

I (and many others) wanted it to be so much better than it was, but they never seemed to take off verses other cars like the EVO/Familia

The Skyline gtr did have some initial issues (tweaks?) In its 4wd system (at least when sold here by nissan) that made it pretty lame.

I guess people forgave it because at the time it was (mostly) smashing all in Group A

I wonder if the GTiR had the same issue?

Let me know when that 17lb meatball costs five to six figures.
