SEC is going to start investigating Facebook.
And the DOJ might launch an anti-trust suit against Apple.

There's been a lot of talk in the business world recently of Zucko-F*cko claiming he wants to bring the internet to the next level and create "the metaverse". Whatever the fark that is. But I'd bet whatever it is, it will be designed with white people in mind. I'm sure Ol' Zucky thinks that people who speak Spanish can do his landscaping and plow his wife when his back is turned. But when it comes to taking part in America's electoral processes that's where he draws the line. That carpet-headed freak only subscribes to the early 19th century version of freedom and equality....for white men.

I've heard from friends who are lawyers that Google doesn't just recruit top tech talent, they recruit top lawyers too. Wherever that legal line may be, they will toe it without crossing it, making sure they're almost always on the right side of legal.* And when they do cross that line, they absolutely know it and have already factored in the fines and penalties, making it a business decision.

*Legal and not evil being two very different things of course, which is why they removed "Don't be evil" from their mission statement.

Usually when someone says that something is 'too political', it seems to mean 'you shouldn't be paying attention to who really controls your life.'

We should assume residents of a region are voting citizens in open media. Being social media, it should know your preferred primary language. Although I keep getting served Spanish language ads, and those have the AT&T girl with a stuffed brassiere compared to English language ads.

The Spanish Language is 'too political' now?
So Facebook can aggressively censor anything written in it using the excuse of 'removing politically inflammatory posts' or similar BS?

\Insisting people in America MUST learn English? Now that is political
\\And discriminatory
\\\Because you're holding hispanic Americans to a higher standard than white ones

2021-10-26 3:55:46 AM
I get random Spanish ads on YouTube when I hang out with my Latino friends, so if they have the power to do that Facebook should be able to give Spanish language election info to Spanish speakers. I sure as shiat got plenty of election info in English on my Facebook page last year.

Google is already being sued, you nitwit. Its been ongoing for over a year both by the DoJ and an alliance of state AGs.

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-sues-monopolist-google-violating-antitrust-laws

Today, the Department of Justice - along with eleven state Attorneys General - filed a civil antitrust lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to stop Google from unlawfully maintaining monopolies through anticompetitive and exclusionary practices in the search and search advertising markets and to remedy the competitive harms. The participating state Attorneys General offices represent Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, and Texas.
"Today, millions of Americans rely on the Internet and online platforms for their daily lives.  Competition in this industry is vitally important, which is why today's challenge against Google - the gatekeeper of the Internet - for violating antitrust laws is a monumental case both for the Department of Justice and for the American people," said Attorney General William Barr. "Since my confirmation, I have prioritized the Department's review of online market-leading platforms to ensure that our technology industries remain competitive.  This lawsuit strikes at the heart of Google's grip over the internet for millions of American consumers, advertisers, small businesses and entrepreneurs beholden to an unlawful monopolist."

Have you heard how these people to rage at a phone message just because there's an option for Spanish? Keep those crackers happy & the ruble-- I mean, American money will flow right in."

On the big tech investigation front, the stupidest thing I heard was Elizabeth Warren on MSNBC -- and I usually agree with her.

She is on talking about 'breaking up facebook', and having 'many social network companies to choose from'.  I mean.. We *have that* already.... and let's just say you break up facebook.... what stops any particular network from becoming the most popular one again? And why would you want to have a fragmented system?  I don't want to log into seven different platforms, so I can find my sister on one, by brother on the other.

Regulation is needed, and mandated reporting data, and probably a bunch of other stuff..but breaking up... just...not effective.  That's a Barron Trump worthy idea.

Instagram is probably the biggest social media outside of Facebook (maybe bigger, not sure) and Facebook owns it, maybe she is talking about stuff like that.

Facebook could have been amazing.  And it still has amazing parts.  I'm in a regional bug group, a regional snake group, a regional chicken group, and a bonsai group. All answer questions immediately upon asking, which is a fantastic resource.  And our animal rescue does basically everything through Facebook.

But having someone who thinks speaking Spanish is political running such a powerful tool is a bad, bad idea.  Nuke it from orbit.  I've tattled on multiple people using the bigoted term "COVID-19" and they just keep skating along.  But using the term plague rat?  That got me put in Facebook jail.  Tells you everything you need to know about them.
