What we call Fall up here. The commute tomorrow is probably going to suck, but at least it's not snow.

If I was a Nor'easter I'd attack Los Angeles.  They'd never suspect a thing.

Are they sure it's not an xnor-easter?  People often confuse them.

I started hoarding supplies last week for this normal trivial event.. Sucks to be you non-hoarders.

Stop saying "bomb cyclone", it was a pineapple express.  It was an honest day of house leak discoveries and getting soaked in a nice day long cold drenching rain with some good strong winds here in the socal mountains, exactly what our area needs. Great night for hot soup , fresh baked bread, and getting bombed by the fire with my lady and a nice warm whisky drink or three, life doesnt suck at all right now...

Meanwhile in Dallas, I had a 15 minute storm that was just enough I didn't have to run the sprinklers.

That comes later."

It's just about the 30th anniversary of The Perfect Storm too.

CSB, I was a sophomore in marching band at the time. The storm started hitting on the last Saturday before finals, and we had a competition in New Bedford, the next town over. There was a stretch there where we didn't know if we were going or not and they finally said yes. So we hop on the buses to drive the two miles over to their stadium. It was pouring there. First they decide we're going, then it gets downgraded to "we're just gonna perform in an arc on the field," then, as at least half a dozen people lose shoes to the mud at Sergeant Field, they called it off and got us under the stands. All the while, our band director, who's fond of practicing through rain and saying "it's just a passing shower," keeps us all going. So after that, for most of us, we would say "just a passing shower" to damned near any storm we got.

\the field isn't used as much anymore, but Lord knows it still holds those white buck shoes....

Happy "Well, The Foliage Sure Looked Nice While It Lasted" Day, New Englanders. May the storm winds be blowing the leaves OUT of your yard and not into it.

The only people up here really excited about this are the weather forecasters.

It's been gone around me in central Maine for a few days now, but yeah, this will be the death knoll for the rest.

This alarm cracked us up here in New England.

"Dire warnings!  Brace for a deluge!  Rain bombs on the way!"

Or as we call it here, "rain."

And why is it, lately, that every time it snows, it's a "snow storm!"  Why not just "snow fall" or "snow"?  But no, always a "SNOW STORM!"  Weather used to be just weather, not a major epic melodrama.

Last night, there was a 20 mile wide line of thunderstorms that at one point stretched from Albany to Atlanta.  When it went over Chez Flyspray, it sounded like someone was dropping dumpsters full of cinderblocks from low earth orbit.  Looked like that was associated with a Low Pressure center over Western Ontario. The Nor'easter was visible off the VA Coast.  That moved north and either joined that other Low or bumped it north.

I do know that. I'd blame autocorrect but I don't use it on Fark. Just a duh moment I guess.

Sensationalism Sells.... different version of "ooh ! Shiney" or "squirrel !".. some folks just can't resist that... or a car with XZ after the model name.... like Comcast and Xfinity or Verizon and FIOS..  not x or z there, but it works.... gotta remember that humanity is regressing to childhood, so that stuff works well on the masses..

Got a neighbor who removed all of the trees from his yard .. hates leaves..  guess where leaves from other yards go....  don't sweat 'em here : when they are mostly out of the trees, use the riding mower and move them to the center of the yard and suck 'em up with the yard vac.. done deal.

Hopefully it will get up to northern Vermont. They've been bone dry up there all year, even when the hurricane hit the coast. My aunt and uncle's water spring is running very low.

Great.  I mean it.  It's shiatty weather in Fall, but who cares: We get our reservoirs filled and our forests get soaked instead of burning themselves and our homes to ash.
