Good thing gay marriage is settled law and has been ruled constitutional and there's no chance of that decision ever being reversed by say 6-3.

any more "conservative" only means one party wants to "conserve" its ability to limit the rights of others, to benefit themselves exclusively.    that's it, that is the platform.

I know Glenn's super upset about what he thinks Jesus says about homosexuality, but he needs to go back and read his Bible, not just listen to the GQP agent shouting from the pulpit of his members only country club (sorry, Church).

/ Jesus was a dude who traveled with 13 other dudes and talked about loving everyone - pretty sure he would be Fine with marriage equality.

Frankly, I'm surprised he came out and said he's against marriage equality. I'd assumed that that was an issue that most conservatives have realized that they'd lost and have retreated to bitterly fuming about it while repurposing all of their homophobic arguments to be about trans people.

Yes. The Taliban follows the rules they set for others.

So basically "I don't like gay marriage, but it's settled law so meh"?

So if the law comes into question again (see: TX) he'd be happy to ban it?

As soon as the Supreme "Court" officially nullifies 50+ years of abortion rights precedent, the next target is gay marriage. Some state, maybe Texas, probably not Virginia, is going to annul gay marriages by legislative act and the "court" is going to go along with it.

I hope I'm wrong but I know I'm not.

I wonder what would happen if one of these conservative assholes just had an epiphany on stage while giving a speech.

'Yeah, I am against gay marriage and.... oh fark it, you know what? That's what my party wants me to say. My party is asshole!"

...but that'll never happen, not even when anyone claims to be "a compassionate conservative".

2021-10-25 4:57:00 PM
Because even conservatives realize their views are toxic and indefensible so they have to lie like a dog about what they believe. They've been doing it since forever. It's why they have always have to play history revision every time they go on a cruelty spree.

The sad thing is: you are right. The whole anti-abortion/anti-trans push we've been seeing lately is just them testing the waters to see what they can get away with, and it's terrifying!

That's kinda why I was upset with a lot of Farkers the other day when a lot of y'all didn't seem to understand what and why Dave Chappell said is not okay to some of us!

VOTE VIRGINIA! AND NOT FOR THIS GUY!

But he wants you to know that he still loves everyone equally, so there's that to consider

Of course, they don't actually consider anyone other than old, white, straight-ticket GOP voters to be people, so  anyone else doesn't really count and doesn't have to be considered in any way, shape or form.

It's hard to know where this will land. The polling the last governors race was hot garbage with a predicted squeaker breaking for the Democrats turning out to be an absolute blowout - hoping this will be the same, but the GOP certainly seem energized by the prospect of banning schools from teaching anything bad ever done by white people in America and some Democrats seem to be snoozing now there's not a lunatic in the WH.

If it goes Red... this country is farked in 2022. VA has been D+10 ish for a while now and trending moreso each cycle. If it flips it proves the GOPs school board bullshiat is the secret sauce they need to get "moderate whites" to fully embrace white supremacy with only the barest figleaf.

After the SB8 kickback, and the likely death of Roe and PP v Casey, Republicans are both emboldened to do worse, and need a new Boogeyman to scare voters.

They have "trans weirdos" currently (description by a scumbag relative), but getting rid of gay marriage/rights/existence is coming soon.

Redistricting could be bad too maybe.  I know there was the initiative last time around but I don't know how that will go forward.
