It would be a shame if Biden fired Louis DeJoy.

Oh, wait, it's actually unbelievable that Biden hasn't fired and prosecuted DeJoy yet. Biden's just letting this continue, as if he likes the way DeJoy is leading USPS.

More precisely, of the nine board members, Biden has nominated three of them, Trump six.  Two of those nominated by Trump have their terms expire on Dec 8th of this year.

We at MegaFakeCorp are quite interested in hiring you.  You've shown awesome business skillz and can do the tough thingies that need to be donez.  We at MegaFakeCorp need someone like you.  We're offering you $100,000 million dollar annual pay in cash under the table, no taxes, wink wink.  A flying car and two, count them two, mistresses (replaced every six months).  Just quit you're boring job at the Post Office and come work for us!

Offer won't lasted.  We're also talking to Elon Facebook and Zuckerberg Autos peoples.  Just tell Biden to bite it and come on down to 1234 Fake Street, Tupperwear City, Virginia.  We're the totally big building on the corner.  Just tell the receptionist who you are and we'll send people down.  For realsies.  All for realsies.

What are you on about?  The rule of law says the postmaster general has no term limit, and can only be selected and removed by the board of governors.  Once there are enough votes on the board to remove DeJoy, he is gone.

There is absolutely no mechanism to remove him outside of that process, so I don't know what you are trying to say.  What's more, I don't think you know what you're trying to say either.

It's baffling how quick these progressives are willing to go full tilt authoritarian if they could.

Yet they also bleat about how horseshoe theory is a load of bull while constantly demonstrating the exact point the theory is making.

It's not that left and right extremes want the exact same thing, they don't. They want to go about getting it the same way though, in this case, by overturning our rule of law and going full authoritarian to attack their enemies and those they think are sympathizers.

I'm saying DeJoy has broken laws in how he has operated USPS (including election interference laws, as he worked as hard as he could in his role to make sure people couldn't vote) and should be held accountable for that.

But, then, Republicans can do almost whatever they want and our DOJ don't give a shiat.

Same here - voted in person early for the same reason. So long as that Trump lickspittle remains as Postmaster general, I do not trust them to not f*ck with mail-in ballots. At least in the city where I live, I am in a small speck of light blue in a blood-red sea that is this county.

Trump and his authoritarian flacks combined with a third of our population being useful idiots have really eroded confidence in our elections at an unprecedented level. I am of the opinion that for the foreseeable future, until that confidence is restored, we really should have outside observers monitor our elections.

I think some of you are forgetting the reason Trump sucks is BECAUSE of his defiance of the rule of law in favor of selfish, personal expedience.  If we just ape his tactics, how are we different than him?

Oh, wait, it's actually unbelievable that Biden hasn't fired and prosecuted DeJoy yet. Biden's just letting this continue, as if he likes the way DeJoy is leading USPS.

Biden legally CAN'T and you know this. Dec 8 is when he can replace a BoG member.

Oh shut the f*ck up about "can't" and "legally." Trump proved that you can do whatever. Biden can unilaterally appoint an "acting" person and make DeJoy useless today.

The rules don't matter. Trump proved that. Slavish obedience to the rules at the cost of getting good things done is idiotic complicity.

That's nice. You really hate democracy don't you since you've become such a staunch advocate for authoritarianism.

Btw, do you really think if "your side" got into power and went authoritarian like you want that you wouldn't also become a victim to their inevitable purge?

We're struggling with the in WI.  Ever since Evers got elected, it's been quite nice here.  We're not in the news every day (Except when Johnson pops off at the mouth)  Some of us want him to do a 'purge' of his own, but he hasn't and won't.

Evers, like Biden, has been 'quietly competent' at literally everything he does.  He might not say the things I want every time he speaks, but when he acts, he does so thoughtfully and methodically, listening to actual experts, and not those right-wing hacks that passed for a Walker administration.

Would I like to see more action?  YES!!!!
Is a part of me GLAD I'm not seeing more action?  yes.

Quiet competence.  That's what I voted for in both instances.

I'm all for pushing the boundaries, but this is ridiculous.  The minute we follow Trump's lead in discarding the rule of law is the minute we throw in the towel on salvaging democracy.

Besides, it simply isn't who Biden is.

I will repeat:

"Slavish obedience to the rules at the cost of getting good things done is idiotic complicity."

And of course it is you and only you that decides what are the "good things", right Popeye?

I think people at some point want Democrats to use the levers of power they have. If anything Trump proved that we have no real rules or laws and presidents can pretty much do whatever they feel like doing with no consequences.

I'm not saying Biden and Dems need to violate the law, although that other post might be saying that. They need to deal with the reality in which we are finding ourselves, though, and they are decidedly NOT doing that.

If there are no rules or consequences for breaking laws, then the whole "Biden can't legally do [X]" is laughable. And it's not as though doing things the "right" way gets us anything good. So of course it's human nature to say "well if we can't get anything good legally then ignore the law" because bad people have ignored the law to do bad things in this country for far too long.

The rules and laws have been ignored for decades, to the point where our government's thin veneer of legitimacy is thinner and weaker than ever.
