Noon until 7:00pm is considered extended hours? How do you get your $9.00 worth of meat in such a short time span? Also, do you live in a nursing home and need to get back in time for Miss Marple reruns?

Meh, looks like any dinner you'd get at a roadside diner on the other side of the pond for around seven-fiddy.

/Pass the salt and pepper.

I was thinking the same thing. You can get a meal at 3, but not at 8? Silly Brits.

It doesn't look as bad as I was expecting, especially considering the price.

I get a good vibe off of this guy. It's rare these days to find someone able to find satisfaction in the simple things.

I'd think it was more about, "That's a long time for things to be sitting about getting nasty."  Most places that do it either have quite a high turnover so nothing sits too long, or they do it for a more limited span - say 3 hours or so.  This place seems to go with neither

No one goes there anymore. It's so popular all the meat is gone.

So is a carvery some sort of English buffet?

Moniker o' Shame: So is a carvery some sort of English buffet?

Kind of.  A buffet with meat sliced to order.

I've probably had better chow hall food, which is exactly what this looks like

It's kinda sounds like Britain's version of those old Ponderosa steak houses except with endless Yorkies instead of bread - & the peas are "mushy".
I'm hungry & jealous at the same time - or "hungjelly" as the young peeps would say.

I've read that 3 hours is about the time you can have meat out like that, and still call it safe.

Because, if they keep it hot enough to kill bacteria for 7 hours, then they're not keeping the meat warm, they're cooking it.

I had a fridge, so I was more into reheating stuff. Though yeah, I am sure I occasionally ate stuff that had been out for more than three hours.

But, I'm not a restaurant. ;)

I assume this particular place sells enough, that they can go through their warm meat in 3 hours.
